1883

 

 

JANUARY 1883

 

MO 1   I done the chores fixed shed for cows went to the fort got soat 10, gimnet 5, went to see Stephen Moyle about the house traid he was not home.

 

TU 2    I chored around til noon Lewis came up and got our table at 11 we went to his place for dinner at 1 all of Freds folks and TEARS folks and Troleson and Theadore Beck we stayed til 8 ˝ had supper.

 

WE 3    We got up a 8 done the chores til noon then went to F Becks at 2 had dinner at 4 and supper at 9 There was Trolesons, P Johnsons and Erows

 

TH 4    We stayed home til noon I went to fort to see Stephen Moyle about the trade he was not at home again.  Came up done the chores tended babe for TEAR.

 

FR 5     I chored around til noon hitched up Trip and Doll went to fort took 84 lbs to store Bot shugar 25, matches 25, Broom 35, spices 10, stove black 10, conditions powder 25, took 6 lbs of butter for tithing got 2 ˝ bu of apples at tithing office.

 

SA 6     I done the chores then went to fort Bot at Coop tea 25, starch 15, cinnamon 10, cloves 10, paid cash waited til noon to see Stephen Moyle but he did not come form down creek.  Came up cleaned the stables out done the chores.

 

SU 7     When we got up this morning the wind was blowing very cold and OSKER was sick with a bad cold so that TEAR stayed at home all day.  I went to meating 2 twice we had Smoot and Arva Cluff speaking at both meatings they took all the time both times, it was very cold and stormy all day.

 

MO 8   I chored til noon then cut oaks out at the botom of the lusurn all the afternoon, done chores.

 

TU 9    I done the chors then piled muck til noon then went to fort to see S Moyle about our trade he agreed to take 400.00 for the place.

 

WE 10  I done the chores and piled muck til noon then went and cut oaks out awile and Stephen Moyle came up to see the cow and pigs we traded except him seeing the logs the cow and pigs suited him and the price the cow $50.  The big pig at 10 ct per lb the 3 little ones at $7.00 each the first of March they are to bee 3 white ones one of them a sow.

 


TH 11   I done the chores poot up 4 bu of Wheat and 4 of corn took TEAR and children to Lewises left them there I went over to fort to see Stephen Moyle and settle my tithing the logs suited Steve at $1.00 each he said he would take 40 of them at that .  I settled my tithing went to mill got my 4 bu of corn and 4 of Wheat, choped together for pigs we had supper at Lewises.

 

FR 12   It was very cold this morning we arose very late I tended the babe while TEAR washed Sunberg and John W came up at 12 we paid him our portion on the thresher $20.00 each he stayed to dinner.

 

SA 13      I done the chores piled some muck went over to the sawmill to see if I could borrow some lumber for S Moyle, C.Hackitt said he would sell me some for 22 ˝ per thousand we went tofort took 1 bu of Wheat and 4 lbs of butter to store got cap for OSKER 60, shugar 25, coffee 20, factery 65, thread 15, Mother was sick.

 

SU 14   We all went to meating had W House and another from Lehi as missionaries we had dinner at Crises.

 

MO 15  I done the chores went to the fort to see S Moyle we made the traid he alows (allows)  me $200 for the new field lot and $50 for Old Red and $40 for 40 logs and $21 for 3 pigs and 18 ct per lb for the big pig 2 thousand feet of lumber 50.00 and 10,00 in grain.

 

TU 16   I grubbed til noon then went to the fort got glycerine 10 had an arrow.

 

WE 17  It snowed about 12 inches last night and til noon today I took old Liney down to W Nashes bull I have to pay $1.00.

 

TH 18   I done the chores Jos Beck came up him and me went after Rabits we got 5 in all day.

 

FR 19   It was very cold this morning when we got up and it continued to blow and snow all day it has been           the coldest day that I ever experenced.  I cleaned the stable out and poot bedding in at foot deep all over it.

 

SA 20   It was the coldest night that ever was known in Utah, the theometer was 28 below zero we went to the fort took 3 lbs of butter to Toms at 30 ct Got shugar 50, tea 25, lemon 10, candy 5, took 121 l    bs of Wheat to Coop at 90 per bu got raisins 25, coffee 20, Dew bill 30, candy lemom and toael 30, lace 8, rice 25, currents 25 we stayed at Becks to supper they were expecting Neaslson but they failed to come.  Mistaken in this....We went to fort took 3 lbs of butter to Toms store got shugar 50, tea 25, lemon10, candy 5, took 2 bu of Wheat to Coop got coffee20, currents 25, rice 25, raisens 25, towel 35, candied lemon 10, plate 10, script 30 took 1 bu of wheat to Worthys to pay for the bull to Spot.

 

SU 21   We stayed at home til 4 I went to Nealsons invited them up to OSKERS birthday Tuesday Hyrams folks was there to Jims,

 

TU 23   I chored around til noon the company started to come the Nealsons was first Mrs Nealson gave OSKER a little chiney. Box with a child sitting on it and a looking glass behind it quilted with Sool, it cost 50 .  Annie Nealson gave him a dress cost 40, his Grandma Beck gave him a dress and apron cost 70, Grandma Watkins sent him an apron 25.  Fanney gave him a plate 10, Jim

 

 


gave him a knife50 Devy gave him a pig __50  Sarahann and Martha gave nothing they stayed til 8 then they all went.

WE 24  I shocked corn before noon went to fort after took Mother some cakes of different kinds the boys was having lots of fun running hores and jostling for cider, Old Nig was beeten. (beaten)

 

TH 25   I shocked corn and cleaned the stables shocked 4 sacks stayed at home all day.

 

FR 26   I chored til noon then got redy and went to Nealsons for supper there was us,Lewises, and TEARS folks, Jim and Annie, and Jim and Fanney, Sarahann, Martha, there we stayed til 10 had a good time.

SA 27   I shocked corn and chored til noon then hitched to the sleigh and went tofort took 1 bu of Wheat got shugar 50, coffee 25, rivits 15, Becks was killing their old sow we came up and done the chores by dark.

 

SU 28   We all went to meating.  Bishop Herrngton gave a lecture on the subject of government and the signs of the times we had dinner at Mothers.

 

MO 29  We got up at 1/4 to 7 had breakfast poot the water on to scald a pig.  Jim never came up because it was storming it snowed all day .  I went to the fort after Jim got up at 11 ˝ we had some dinner before we started we got hur done by 2 ˝ James and Jos Polson came up fetched 2 of their horses for me to feed, they are to give me 50 ct per head per week, their last cow died last nite.

 

TU 30   It was still raining when we got up.  I went out after rabbits twice never got any it rained all day has been raining and snowing since yesterday morning.

 

WE 31  It was still raining and snowing at seven and continued til 10 ˝ then quite.  I cleaned the stable out went out caught 2 rabbits went to the fort took 4 lbs of butter and 129 lbs of Wheat got 1 ˝ per lb for W, and 30 per lb for butter.  Traided at Toms, Bot shugar 100, rice 35, currents 25, raisens 25, lemon 10, candy 10, eggs 30, nutmegs 10, paid on acct 65 TEAR went to Becks

 

 

FEBRUARY 1883

 

 

TH 1    I cleaned the stables out in the four noon it snowed all the afternoon I went to the fort borrowed 30 lbs ___________of mothers got home at 6 done chores I went to Fork took 248 lbs of Wheat to Snows got shugar 50, overhalls 60, 2 dew bills 1 for 150 the other 90.  Bot at Grants ________, knife 25 ________70 dew bill paid rest.

 

FR 2 This Day is missing

SA 3        I done the chores and cleaned and loaded the stables our company started to come at 3 Lewises and family, F Beck and TEARS folks , E Heley and Geo Adams and family, Jim Johnsons, Fanney and Vina they stayed til 10 up had a good time Becks old Bally  horse died last night our Old Red had a fectin to night at 10 Jim tiped over.

 

SU 4     We stayed at home all day was cold.

 

MO 5   I done my chores then hitched up went to fort took 13 lbs of poark to the tithing office and got a mixing pan at 95 ct Coop on ticket got a packett of tea and paid for it.

 

TU 6    I done my chors then went to the fort to see if I could chop the wood that I was to pay for Rileys school he was to pay my water tax, saw Sam Brown he said I could I also saw Cris Hackett he wanted to borrow our ___________for their concert.  I told him to call a meating of the members of the ______and get the concent of the members they appointed _______T Clark had acct.

 

WE 7    I done my chores then went to the fort took 6 bu out of the shed to the school got school Got shugar 30, at store paid in script got back at 11.  Jim and Vina and John Mantle and wife and Liza and our Jim and Fanney and John was up here to dinner and supper had a good time.

 

TH 8    I done my chores then hitched up Trip and the old man and I got of Jim Polson we all went to the fort took 40 lbs of oats to Coop paid for the bread pan95 that I got the other day and the towels 20, buttens 10, candy 5, got an ax handle 35 on tick.  I chopped and piled 3/4 of a cord of work at the school house started at 12 got done at 4 cut in 9 ft lengths we got home at 5 done chores.

 

FR 9     I done the chores cleaned the stable out and beded it good with waarm chicory.  John Mc came up after deer him and I got to shooting about 70 yds I beet him with his gun at .  I went to the fort to the nomination meating of the city council.

 

SA 10   I chored around til noon then we got redy and went over to Jim Nealsons to supper it was his birthday today he was 27 years old.  There was Lewises and TEARS folks Jim and Fanney Hyram and wife Bro and Sister Nealson, Anney 2 sisters from Pleasant Grove and Moyle and Johnson and wife and hur sister we went over at 2 stayed til 10.

 

SU 11   We stayed at home all day.  Lewises and Becks came up at 2 stayed til 10.

 

MO 12  I chored til noon then went to fort took 110 lbs of W to Coop got shugar 25, coffee 25, rice 25, paid 35 for an ax handle for H Moyle stayed to the election of city council they was running Tom Whitby for ______

 

TU 13   I shocked corn and chored til noon.H Heley and family came up at 11 stayed to dinner and supper had a good social chat and enjoyed our selves.

 

WE 14  I shocked corn til noon and chored in after noon and cleaned the stable, stayed home all day.

 

TH 15   It started to snow and blow at 6 ˝ it blew a hurricane at the fort stormed some all night it was stormy all day I done the chores tended OSKER while TEAR washed and packed water and piled muck after noon .  William Adames little boy died today at Salt Creek have been there since Christmas.

FR 16   We got up late done the chores then went down to the shooting match stayed there til 3 Jediah Wilkin and CM Beck was captains I shot in Jos Becks place I was on CM Becks side and lost, Jeds side made 191 points Crises made 158 points the losing side paid 50 ct each and the winers each.  W Devy and wife had a daughter born this morning at 7 o’clock.

 

SA 17   I shocked some corn and got some oaks and cut them up and tended OSKER while TEAR and ironed and cleaned, Jos Beck came up got the wagon cover.

 

SU 18   We went to meating had a missionary from ghoshian (Goshen) he spoke 1 hour, Strong took the rest we went to Jim Mc Daniels after noon

 

MO 19  Shocked some corn and cut some brush and cleaned the stables out and poot bedding in them went to fort took 93 lbs of Wheat to Coop got shugar 25, calico 23, waist for RENZO 35, plates 20, towel 30, clothes pins 35, candy 5, we got home at 4 done chores by dark.  Tom Carlisle came home from town drunk.

 

TU 20   We done our chores then went to Hyram Heleys and spent the rest of the day we got home at 6 ˝ done the chores.

 

WE 21  I poot up 3 sacks of Wheat and 2 sacks of corn got redy went to Fork got 2 sacks of wheat made into grain flower and the corn choped , took 1 sack to Snows got 195 ct for it and 4 lbs of butter at 17 ˝ all came to 3.00 had it credited to me got a recipt of him, for $20.00 pm Ko, Polsons acct I owe him for $14 out of the 20.

 

TH 22   I shocked corn 2 ˝ sacks full and cleaned the stable out and bedding and done the chores our Jim killed his colt he threw the rope on it and it fell back and broke its neck.

 

FR 23   I done the choes then hooked up and went to fort with 64 lbs of oats and 3 lbs of butter got 25 ct per lb for butter and 1 3/4 for oats got shoes for OSKER 1.10, lamp black10, thread20, ducking 25, plad 9, nuts 5, soap 10, shugar 15, we got home at 3 Lewis and family had been up here and gone home.  Jim went to Pleasant Grove to day traded old black on Tan for a horse 6 years old gave  $20.00

 

SA 24   I done my chores shocked a sack of corn Lewises came up at 11 stayed til 4 he cut some brush to burn down in the hollow.  Jos Beck was up all day to cut some brush and I done

the chores by dark.

 

SU 25   We all went to meating went to Lewises to dinner and stayed all the afternoon I seen Jacob Beck tonight he said he would by my pigs next week and pay me 9 ct per lb here for them.

 

MO 26 I done the chores and washed and greased my new harness.  F Beck and wife came up here stayed for coffee they had the new horse that they got last Tuesday I went to fort after, Trip and Doll.

 

TU 27   I done my chores and washed of the old harness and greased that and the new one all over again. John came to see when I was going to town with pig.  I told him I should not go til Jacob Beck

 

            came home from Brighams and see if he wanted them he said he would give me 9 ct for them if he could cell them he will be back tonight.

 

WE 28  I done my chores then took 44 lbs of oats to the store Coop got shugar 25, tea 25, ducking 12 ˝  nutmegs 5, nuts 3, came up at 12 washed the other old harness and greased it and done the chores it has been fine weather for 2 weeks and the last 3 days it has been very warme the snow is going fast the west field is mostly bair but some snows up here and east field.

 

 

MARCH 1883

 

 

TH 1    I poot the new harness together and we all went to the fort calculating to fast meating it was late so TEAR did not go but RENZO and me went to meating Adams and Bodison and H Moyle T Whitby and Geo Clark took the time there was 8 families and 18 mails (males) present Tear took 4 lbs of butter to store Coop got 25 ct per lb.  Bot 4 yds of c flannel 80and towel 10, we came up at 2 I poot the old harnesses together and made 1 hame straps and 1 lazy strap.

 

FR 2     I done the chores and shocked 2 sacks of corn went down below the lusurn cut a box of wood Riley and F Beck was up looking at the land and ditch.

 

SA 3     I poot up 3 sacks of Wheat and 3 lbs pf butter and went to Fork the Wheat weighed 394 lbs at 1 ˝ ct per lb, butter 27 ˝ cts it all came to 6.75 paid Riley 2.05 that I owed him and water tax act. Bot coffee 25, lining for dress 1.06, garden seed 25, had 3.15 ct foot to my credit on Snows book.  Riley went to Fork with me we got to fort at 3 ˝ fetched a grist for D Mc 3 sacks and 2 sacks for Riley.

 

SU 4     We went to meating and school, Speakers was S W Brown and Jos Bateman we went to Davis Strongs todinner came up at 11 ˝ done chores.

 

MO 5   John and me killed 3 pigs up here this four noon and one for them this after noon for John to start to town tomorrow.  I sold Hy Heley 300 of oats for 5.40 we weighed my pigs 1 weighed 148 another 130 the other 84 pounds, Johns is going to take them to town tomorrow (Salt Lake)  with his.

 

TU 6    I done the chores then went to work on the ditch there was Riley, Beck, Goodridge, P Kits and me we worked all day.  John Watkins took 3 pigs for me and 1 for him to town this morning.

 

WE 7    I done the chores poot in 1 day on the ditch here was Beck, Riley, 2 Bodisons, Lewis and P Kits ˝ day.

 

TH 8    I done my chores got redy went down plowed for Hyram all day, Phil our Jim plowed also.

 

FR 9     I done my chores then we went to the fort took 85 lbs of Wheat to the sotre got shugar 50, rice 25, tea 25, nuts and thread 25.  TEAR stayed at hur mothers I went over to Hy Heley helped him plow all day.  P Kits and E Okey and Nephi H helped.  Jim started to plow on theirs by Devy, John came home from town he only got 8 cts per lb for my pigs 27 dollars was all he got for them all 3 weighed 140 the other 129 the other 70 was gone 3 ˝ days.

 

SA 10   I went to the fort helped the boys to plow the four noon and started to plow after noon and Thomas Whitby came over with a sumons for me to act as a juror in the case of Mrs Bennett and Nell Bateman.

 

SU 11   We went to meating and stayed til 4 had dinner at E Heleys Devy and John and the Bishop took all the time.

 

MO 12  I went to the fort helped the boys to plow and poot in that 3 acre peace running east and west by Devys fence poot it into oats and finised that peace joining Bodisons changed 6 bu of Wheat with Riley got 2 sacks of side oats of the boys for oats back.

 

TU 13   I got Jos Beck to drive 1 teeme for me today Jim and Jos Beck blowed for me all day.  John came up at noon with another teeme him and me poot in 2 ˝ acres after noon of side oats.  Riley started yesterday poot in 1 ˝ acres.

 

WE 14  I went down helped the boys to plow 2 acres and poot in 3 of Wheat took 2 2 times had Jos Beck to drive for me Hyram helped them also 5 teemes in all we worked on the old 4 acre peace next to town TEAR had a dress cut by Alice Moyle paid 40 cts.

 

TH 15   I got up at 5 ˝ done the chores tined some Wheat sewed 3 acres before boys came Willford Booth worked for me today.  Jim worked all day and John ˝ day with their teemes Hyram helped me me all day.  We poot in 6 acres next to the house with 3 teemes befour noon and 5 after noon Wilford plowed in the hollow befour noon flowed ˝ an acre.

FR 16   John and Wiford helped me all dy we finished this peace next to the house by 10 ˝ then went to the hollow plowed 1 3/4 only poot in 2 acres..

 

SA 17   John and Hyram Heley helped with their teemes to day.  Hyram was owing for today I owe John 1 ˝ day now.  Wilford Booth drove one of my teemes today he has worked for me 3 days at $1.00 per day.  We plowed the long length and ˝ acres on my teeme and harrowed and backed it all and harrowed and backed 1 acre on the east and west peae I had Thorts gray mair to day to work.

 

 

 

SU 18   We stayed at home til 4 then went to Lewises to supper it was Etta’s birthday

            (age 5) TEARS folks and us was all.

MO 19  I finished plowing TEARS land and poot in oats plowed 2 rods wide on side hill. 

            TEAR went to store run in debt 1.75 took 2 lbs butter.

 

TU 20   I done my chores hooked up both teemes and went down to help TEARS father to poot in his Wheat in the new field.  Beck said they had gone and they could finish with their teeme today so I came back and harrowed and layered off the two long lengths in the hollow 5 ˝ acres in all.

 

WE 21  I done my chores hitched up bothe teemes went down in hollow and plowed poot in 2/3 of the side hill peace and harrowed sowed the short lenth running north and south done the chores.  Lewis came up and night got 60 lbs of oats paid me 1.00 for them he stayed here til 10.

 

TH 22   I finished plowing the side hill and poot it in finished it all in the hollow and loaded the tool to go to new field tomorrow .  Bro and sister Beck came up traded 6  bu of potatoes with me.

 

FR 23   I done the chores took both teemes and went to the new field it was to dry to plow so I had to come home got home at l bot a pitchfork at Coop paid 95 ct for it cash I picked 2 loads of rock of the lusurn and went to the fort got the sow that I bot of Mothers folks for $12,  age 2 weeks.  Orin Rockwell was there had been since Monday our Mary gave Birth to son last evening about

            5 o ‘clock.

 

                        ( Mary and Ephraim named their boy Ephraim Frank first son after 5 daughters )

 

 

 

SA 24   I done the chores then went to the fort TEAR went with me took 5 lbs of butter to Coop got shugar 25, rice 25, sod 15 ˝ , buttons 30, stove polish 10, calico 25, candy 7 .  I helped Jim to hall 2 loads of muck and plow and sewed and harrowed and packed 1 acre of oats by Batemans.

 

SU 25   I done the chores got redy went to meating TEAR went to Lewises stayed there all day I went to meating A Marsh red a sermon delivered by Orson Prat just befoe his death on the future destiny of the saints.

 

MO 26  I done the chore halled 3 loads of muck Then TEAR went to the fort took 3 lbs of butter and 50 lbs of oats to Coop store got socks 30, shirting 70, tin cans 15, nails 35, went in debt 10, She got back at 3 I halled 2 loads of muck and poot up 2 panels of fence between the hay stack.

 

TU 27   I halled 5 loads of muck in double box Lowellen Mantle and wife and Sarah Ann and Vina came up at 4 I bot Lowellens buggie of him for $69 paid 30 in cash 2 pigs $15 7 bu of Wheat at 1 per bu the rest after harvest.

 

 

 

WE 28  I done the chores halled 3 loads of muck backed this peace of lusurn by the house to break the weeds down so I could rake them off.  Jim came up got a pig that I traded them when I got the sow they owe me 2 dollars on it.

TH 29   Went I got up it was raining and had been all night mostly I done the chores then cleaned the stable got 2 loads of much out of it I took the coal bin out of the kitchen fixed some shelves up in thre and shocked corn and shoes little Doll on the front ft Jos Beck fetched us a taiste (taste) of paork.

 

FR 30   It had been raining some during the night I done the chores drove the cows off 6 times cleaned and piled the brush on that peace that I grubbed in the winter and grubbed a lot of sage.

 

SA 31   We stayed all day til noon it showed til noon I went to the fort took 4 lbs of butter to Coop came to 95 cts .  I got shugar 50, tea 25, broom 40, went in debt 20.Stayed at the shooting match an hour got home at 3 Devy boys got my young stock off their lusurn tried to take them to fort .  Jim came up here to see if I knew when they Bot that land of Sy Holden on the low Bench,  it was in October 1875.  I done my chores.

 

 

APRIL1883

 

 

SU 1     We stayed at home all day Riley came up at 4 to tell me about working on the ditch tomorrow. F Beck was also up after cows Riley said William Adams was selling out he had sold his land down on the north bench for 400 dollors and Sylvester was going to give him 700 for the rest.

 

MO 2   I got redy went to Am Fork took 2 bu of Wheat to mill and 2 ˝ to Snow and 90bls of oats at 1.80 hundred and sholder of baken 25, lbs at 13 per lbs and 47 lbs of cabbage.  6.00 in cash and never bot an article.  I am yet owing 3.00 I had little Doll weighed she weighed 800 lbs I went to Grants to get our pictures but was not done I make a bargin with him to take a little pig on them.  All the bench went to Provo today on the Lehi water suit.  I got home at 1 ˝ worked on the ditch after noon Riled, Fred, Youl , Phil, W Devy , H Walton and me thre was worked all day except l, we started up here at top of my lusurn cleaned it out over to within 200 yds of the road by Phil Kits got home at 5 ˝ done chores.

 

TU 3    I done the chores took old Sail and Kate over about Phils hobbled them went to work on the ditch I worked all day there was F Beck, Youl, 2 Waltons, 5 for Devy Phil, and W Devy, Geo Adams and teeme and Geo Mc there was Riley 2 of Bodisons for themselves Riley and George and George Adams and teeme worked on the levy by Strongs field the rest was working from this die of the road that goes by Phils over to with in about 150 yds of Ted Okeys plowed land I had dinner with Phil up never went home.

 

WE 4    I worked on the ditch all day at the head of Ted Okeys land Walton worked with me Riley and Phil , W Devy and Ted Okey and F Clark at Box Elder crossing ditch finished I poot Doll to Mitchels Horse to day paid 3.00

 

TH 5    I piled muck most of the day.  TEAR took the teem and went to the store took 7 lbs of butter got 25 ct per lbs at Coop Bot 3 yds of shirting at 20, 1 1/4 yds of stiff at 35 1 1/4 yds at 27 ˝ per yd calico  tabacco 5, got embrodery 62 ˝ she went in debt 44 ct she took both children she started at 1 came back at 3 ˝ I got on the little mair went to the fort after my coat and went to see if Fanney would come up and stay with TEAR while I wnt to Mantles to get my buggie come home at dusk.

FR 6     I done the chores took the cows off fanney and Nett.  Come up Fanney said she had come to stay with TEAR while I went after the buggie I poot up 7 bu of Wheat and poot a big in the wagon and started at 10 ˝ got there ( Taylorsville) at sunset the road was very bad with mud. Nell Mantle had a girl last night.

SA 7        We got up at 6 at Mantles helped Lowellen to do his chores and empty my 7 bu of Wheat and fix a place for the pig he allowed me $7.00 for the Wheat and 5 for the pig and 10.00 for the other one and the 30.00 cash made 52.00 in all I yet owe him 8.00 on the buggie and said that I could pay that after the harvest or when I could.  I also bot a scraper of him for 6 bu of Wheat after Harvest.  Federmore Little made him a present of 50.00 in cast for his misson .  I started from there at 10 got home at 7 Jos Beck shocked corn for me yesterday.

SU 8     We stayed at home all day hitched on the buggie and took a spin around the bench that big hole by Deveys house is full of water than I ever saw it before went to edge of Bench.

 

MO 9   I done the chores and shocked a sack of corn.  Jim came up after his over coat fetched little Doll mair up he said he would pay the Blacksmith part on my scraper for a shair.  Christena and children came up at 11 I hooked up the teeme on the buggie went to the store took 40 lbs of Oats got 1 lb coffe 25, rice 25, had 20 poot on the book to my credit.  Jim came up after his folks at dusk.

 

TU 10   I shocked corn all day TEAR helped me got it all shocked but 2 sacks it stormed most of the afternoon yesterday it was snow but it has been fine today.

 

WE 11  I started to plow some sage plowed 6 the lay was too full I fixed the road some between here the forks of the road took 74 lbs of W to the store got shugar 25, tea 25, soap 25, lye 25, axle grease , candy 5.  Took the scraper down with us to get fixed.  Phil went with us him and me went up to the sawmill to see how they was getting along.

 

TH 12   Snowed til noon I done my chores cut some oaks out chopped them up shocked some corn

finished it fixed the stock yard poot the pigs in send Jos Beck down on Battlecreek Bench to see if he could fine the owner of some horses and a mule that I had in my corell he could not Phil and John Maine took them on Battlecreek Bench and let them go, 1 sorrel horse with colt and a little brown Mule Brands Y on left thy.

 

FR 13   It stormed all day, snowed and I have killed a pig took old Red to the bull, Bishops have to pay 1.00.

 

SA 14   It was snowing when I got up this morning about 4 inches the snow and ice filled the ditch and it runover all down into the correll.  I worked at it til noon then we hitched up the teeme on the buggie went to fort took 204 lbs of Wheat to the store got 1 ct per lb for it Bot pair of shoes for TEAR 2.00, stockings 35, tacacco 20, candy 8, it was TEARS fathers birthday gave him the tabacco, there was Beck folks and Mrs Olesone ( Olson) form town and 3 children and Lewises and us there to supper .  Beck was 61 years old tody born in the year 1822.

 

SU 15   We had a colt fold last night by the mair that I bot of Jim Polson we went to meating Bishop and Devy took the time speaking of conference went to C Becks to dinner, supper to Lewises F Becks were there and C Becks and Mrs Oleson.

 

MO 16  I done the chores went to the fort worked in the west field ditch in the four noon with my teeme worked on the road with teeme after noon halled gravil by Worthys me and our John, John Moyle, John Polson, Davis and Sam Strong, Thompson, Nephi H, Adams, on birt they all worked all day but John and me, we bot cider for 1.10 for I paid John Moyle 25 cts I owed him got home at 6 ˝ Lewises folks was up here to supper they came up at 10, Lewis went to Fork then came after them.

 

TU 17   I done my chores got redy and we all went to Fork took 13 lbs of butter got 30 ct per lb and 91 lbs of oats at 1.95 per hundred came to 1.75.  Then Snow made a mistake with me on the 2 ____of this monts of 1.55 it all came to 8.35.  Bot shoes for TEAR 2.00, RENZO hat 1.00, shugar, coffee 50, satin 1.25 dew bill 2.45 TEAR bot a hat 53 1/4 paid cash 1.60 dew bill 2.75.

 

WE 18  I done my chores halled 4 loads of muck on to the little peace by the corell by noon.  Mrs Beck and Emma and Mrs Nelson came over at 12 had dinner here I went to the fort to take Doll to Mitchels horse this is the time for hur they was at a funeral.  Jos Bateman youngest 5 month old died night before last.  Burried at 4, got home at 5 done the chores got the cows.

 

TH 19   I done my chores got redy went to the new field to plow and poot that peace in to oats.  I plowed 5 rounds but it would not ________.  I went to Jim Mc Daniels made a margin with him to plow it with his sulky but it would not scour I plowed for him in the afternoon with sulky l of my horses and l of his .  Jim to poot in mine he and his and is to plow and harrow.

 

FR 20   I done the chores we all went to new field.  TEAR stayed at Vinery Jim and me worked on his Brown lot in four noon it stormed all after noon from 1 ˝ yet snow and rain.

 

SA 21   I done the chores went to new field after wagon and plow and Jim Mc scraped had dinner there Jim said he would plow this after noon even if it was dry. He left Old Sail there I came to fort helped the boys to hook up Jims with colt that he got of Aron for his mair they came up with me helped me to plow out my head ditch I spred 20 piles of muck 6 loads done the chores, Jos Beck was up.

 

SU 22   It was snowing when we got up snowed til 10 cold and snowey all day.  We stayed home all day I went to Plils about 1 hour at 4 it got clear at dark was clear at bedtime.

 

MO 23  It was snowing very hard when we got up snowed off and on all day very cold and windy.  I went to Jim N\Mc Daniels after Old Sail stayed at the fort 2 or3 hours after I got back Preist Boys had both of thier Satllions up to Bishops Cris Beck had his up also Riley poot both of his mairs to Crises J Clark poot their Sorrel mair to Preists..

 

TU 24   It was very cold the wind was blowing hard snowed some during the night it has been very cold all day at 9 this morn the wind was the strongest that I have ever seen up here.  I worked all day at making a pond by the spring plowed and scraped all day on it.  The wind blew part of the roof off Bodisons house shook the plastering off Deveys.

TH 26   It was fine this morning but clowdy and cold after noon we went to the fort and John and me went to Am Fork and Pleasant Grove took 134 lbs of oats to Snows and 14 lbs of butter it all come to 6,65 paid 2.25 on the threshing machine acct and 1.15 on Book acct and 1.75 for me for _____and 1.50 for a box we went to Pleasant Grove got our 2 note of 65.00 of Sunberg, got 10.00 dollars for Jim Polson in recipt we got home at 5 went to the fort.

 

FR 27   I got up at 6 Jim was coming up with his teem he came to see if he could borrow my Buggie to go to Fork after Sutherlen for Syrus Bennett coing on the table cloth suit or trial he got it went back at 7 we done the chores went to the fort to have the trial it took til 1 to get the jurey there was Jos Moyle, David Mc and Geo Hacket chalenged for cause and Lee Clark, George Clark T F Carlisle Don Strong Geo Adams_________chalenge then there was John Moyle, W Eastwood, P Kits that stood the case lasted til 8 then the jury til 10 then the disagreed so it has to be tried again we came up at 8 done the chores went to be bed.  The house was crowed all the time with both sects (sex) men women and children and babies.

 

SA 28   I got up at 5 sent the dogs after the cows because they never came last night.  I feed and went to the fort to see John Booth about proving up on my land he said it would cost me 22 ˝ dollors I borrowed 5 of E Heley let John have it to publish it with.  I am to pay the rest when I prove up Jacob and Fred Beck if going to get him to do theirs at the same time so it wont cost so much each.  I sent the moey of John and Jim Watkins and E Heley and C Beck as witnesses for me.  Joseph Beck sent S Moyle C Beck SW Brown , Pete Beck I came up milked done the chores halled l load of muck it was too wet I shoed Sailer on front feet.  I went to the store Coop got 1 bottle of oil 20 cr, pack tea 25, on ticked chainged my bottle with Martha for l that had been blest (blessed) .  I got home at 6 done my chores it has been fine all day.

 

SU 29   Fine day and clowdy We stayed at home til 1 because RENZO was not well we hitched up went

MO 30  We got up at 6 John was here he came up with me at 12 when I went after Booth cause LORENZO was sick but he could not come our John came up with me he could go back if the medison did not relieve him but it did, he stayed the rest of the night RENZO was very bad from 9 to 12 with the wormes he was better this morning I got Jim to take my teeme and go to the new

            field and help John Mc to plow and poot in to oats that 9 acres of mine I helped John to hall 6

TU 1    I done my chores took my cows up on the mt then went to the new field Jim Mc Daniel plowed on my land and I harrowed and sowed and backed it down we got some over ˝ of it done except laying off we went to dinned stayed til 2 went back and went 1 round and got wet stormed drove us home it stormed the rest of the after noon I had to borrow Jim Mc over coat to come home in Jim and me sent over to S W Browns got ˝ a galon of cider I paid him for it I have took up 1.15 in cider while we have been working down their at Browns, my cider.

 

WE 2       It was snowing most of the night it was 2 inches deep this morning I done the chores went to the fort with Doll to the horse she would not take.  Becks came up after noon stayed til 5 ˝ then went Mrs Bennetts trial came off today in Pleasant Grove about the table cloth again.

 

TH 3    I done the chores we all got redy went to fort.  I plowed oak brush up for TEARS father all day down at the point of the hill had Trip and Sail in the four noon got Bill after noon in stead of Trip TEAR and the youngens was sick with bad colds an my self also most of the men in the place worked on the grave yard road all dy making a new one I sent to store got a plow lay on tick we broke the one that was on the plow.

 

FR 4     OSKER and Grandma was sick this morning I done my chores went down plowed oaks for TEARS father all day ______Sail and Bill.  I fetched Booth up at noon to see the children and Grandma he said the children was doing very well sent Medison for Grandma.  W Browns mair got hur leg broke yesterday.

 

.SA 5    I was very sick with the head ache and fever all day so was grandma and OSKER sick all day.  I did not do anything but lay in the bed.

 

SU 6     Grandma got very bad this morning I went after TEARS folks at 4 ˝ they came up and got hur in my buggied at 6 OSKER was sick all day.  I was not very well.  Jim and Vina came up at 11 stayed til 2 I went to the fort to sign my land paper to Booths went to Mothers then went to see how Grandma was she was some better.

 

MO 7   I went to new field finished pooting in my oats we finished Jim Mc Daniels oats to we got back at 4 done the chores got the cow form the top of yellow ridge took the mairs up with me hobbled Kate. OSKER is no better, Grandma is not much better.

 

TU 8    Joseph Beck came up while we was eating breakfast and told us that the old lady was dead that is TEARS grandmother died at 5 I plowed til 4 then TEAR took the teeme and OSKER and Sarah Ann went down to see hur she took 4 lbs of butter to Coop at 25 she got that for RENZO 50, ribbon 60, shoe laces 10, lace 35, knife and fork 25, shoe black 5, candy 5, went in debt 50 she got back at 5 ˝ I got the cows done, chores.

FR 8     I done the chores tended the water on lusurn took the molalsses and vinnagar barrel to Spring wnt to the fort took 44 lbs of Wheat to store got candles 25, shugar 25, horse nails 17, I went out to F Clarks to see if I could get the water he said I could take it then so I went down and turned it on the lusurn came up done chores.

MO 11  I replanted the cane with corn turned the water on the side oats went to the fort at 3 sold 2 head of stears to Lish Boley 3 years old the other yearling in September got $46 for the 2.  I came up got them took them to the fort the 3 year old for 30 the yearling for 16 the little one was Lineys other was Spots Jim helped me to drive them

MO 18  I halled a box of hay form front of the door to corell got redy started a fishing to Provo at 11 got their at 3 F Beck and Jos Beck went with me we caught 2 hundred before we went to bed

 

TU 19   We caught 230 fish started home at 10 got home at 3 cleaned our fish by 12.  Bot 20 lbs of salt of Easton for 30 on tick we had 183 fish all to our shair.

 

WE 20  Done the chores took the buggie to the shop got it fixed, fixed the mower Old Kait got kicked very bad with Old Bill, kicked hur on the thy (thigh) we had to poot about 10 stitches in foot Bell to the Mitchel horse fetched the mower up with me

MO 25  We went to the fort I cut lusurn for TEARS father til noon went after the cows after noon up to Lee Clarks place let Spot and Red and Reds 2 year old heifer go with them fetched the 2 Lineys home got at store on tick pair shoes for OSKER 1.60 and a fine 20 in all 1.80 got home at 8 done chores got shugar 25 on tick.

TU 26   Jim came up helped me to hall 3 loads of lusurn.

 

WE 27  John helped me to hall 4 loads before noon Jim helped me to hall 3 after noon I went to the fort at noon took Bell to horse but Mitchel had gone home he went at 1


 

TH 28   I went to new field poot the water on the lusurn and oats done the chores tened water on the oats in hollow and on Wheat here

 

FR 29   I went to the new field twice stayed most of the day there tended the water up here

 

SA 30   I helped the boys to poot up hay all day got shugar 25 nails 25 on tick in all 50

SU 1     We went to Draper Vill, Mother and Sarah Ann went with us started at 5 ˝ we hot home at 7 stayed 10 hours

 

MO 2   I helped the boys to hall 7 loads of hay before noon and 5 after, 3 of us

 

TU 3    I helped the boys to hall 10 loads of hay with 2 teemes Beck helped us also worked my teeme it halled 6 loads we gone done at 6 done the chores and milked

 

WE 4    I go up at 5 went to the fort got mutton at Coop 7 ˝ lbs at 12 ˝ per lb on tick came up had breakfast done the choes went back at 9 to fort meating started at 10 in Bishops orchard Chaplin, W J S speakers Alma Vance, C C Hackett, T J Mc Collough, songs by Vance boys 5, Jane Hamnet and Celesta Nash 1 by E Nash Jr 1 by Dan and Lorrey Beck, stump speach James Watkins, Resitation Lewis Booth the brass band from Pleasant Grove came up at 12 they stayed til 4 or5 there was foot racing for candy and a pig greased and poot in a pen the one that could catch it blind folded had it there was a chance for children at 5 we came home at 6.

 

TH 5    I furrowed the potatoes out cane and beans and melons turned the water on potatoes and beans

 

FR 6     I done the chores hooked up the teeme went to the fort got the mower ground the knife had dinner at Mothers started to new field at 2 got it cut and back to mothers by 4 came up tended Rileys waste water on my potatoes and oats pulled cockril out oats.  TEAR got shugar 25, tea 25, at Coop store on tick took a pair of shoes back that I got for OSKER on the 3

 

SA 7     John went with me to new field we raked and poot up my hay got done at 1 come home tended the water on the Lusurn and Rileys waste water on potatoes and cane

 

SU 8     I went to meating Ben Drigs spoke and Bishop came up at 1 Riley and me sent up poot Box Elder water in our ditch ˝ stream ____________we went to meating at night I spoke

 

MO 9   I tended the water on Wheat poot it on the cane on side oats poot it on side hill oats in the hollow went to fort with teeme helped John to grind 2 knives he took my teeme went down to cut Lusurn for Cris Beck.  I came home at 10 tended to the water on cane and potatoes and oats.  I watered

 

all day went to new field at night to see if the hay would do to hall.  Jim went up Am Fork Canyon to get Bome Ore to hall for Hines with teeme.

 

TU 10   John and me went down on the bench finsihed cutting and raking Cris Becks 10 acres of lusurn got done at 3 came up to point of the hill cut and raked 3/4 of an acre of clover for Beck I went to the new field turned 2 loads of hay.  TEAR Bot tea 38, soap 25, lye 25 in all 90 on tick.

 

WE 11  John and me halled 7 loads of hay up here from new field with 2 teemes Bell and Trip Nig and ___Jim went to canyon after ore for Hines Ward, came up at noon helped us to hall and unload poot in ˝ day

 

TH 12   John helped to hall unload for tithing it measure 96X6X10 35 ydsI poot the water on my lusurn and oats in new field fetched 1 load up here Bot shugar 50 on tick Ward worked for me all day howing corn and cane I plowed some corn

 

FR 13   Ward worked all day for me howing corn.  I furrowed the rest of my corn Christina was up today I took hur home got the pick from the shop they had sharpened it

 

SA 14   I howed some corn got the water at 11 for my corn and cane and taters got it for 24 hours water came and potatoes and side oats Ward worked in turnel til noon went home I went to fort got Tea 25, soda 12 ˝ tabacka , candy 5, paid cash for it got home at 6 chored

 

SU 15   I got up at 4 tended the water, watered til 11 got all the corn and the cane and potatoes and most of the lusurn after noon, stayed to supper Bishop Smoot was up had 2 meating I never went to any one.

 

MO 16 They turned the water off of our ditch today at 7 this morning I got redy went to town at 5 took my buggie wheels to get new tires poot on, Lewis went with me took some tithing, butter, eggs, pigs 2

 

Tu 17    We arrived in Salt Lake City at 3 this morning went to bed til 5 ˝ took buggy wheels to shop at 11 to get tires foot on them then went to tithing office with the tithing, 2 pigs. 20 doz eggs 17 lbs of butter 50 lbs of oats we went to Plesons to dinner went up town had a look at all the machinery and binders got the wheels done at 5 got redy Bot shugar 12 ˝ lbs for 1.45 packet coff 20, hat for OSKER 1.00, shoes 1.65 started out at 7 got home at 7 the tires and pooting them on sot me $12

 

WE 18  We got home at 7 Dan Johnson came out with us fetched cow whitch made us so long.  I slept til about 12 howed some potatoes after noon

 

TH 19   Me P Kits and F Beck went up worked on spring at mouth of dry creek all day , a drenching

 

FR 20   We went to Lehi to see the street perade (parade) of John Robison circus got there to late they were just closing we went to Hammons to dinner Christina went down with us we never went to Circus we got home at 2 ˝ I pulled weeds out of about 1 acre of corn and 4 rows of cane

 

SA 21   I done the chores and we ed 2 acres of corn went to the fort bot nails 10, resin 5, cream tart 5, tabacco 10, of Thompson lumber 50 of Hackets paid cash for all the above articles

 

 

SU 22   I went to meating had mysionaries from Provo. 2 John Booth and a young Scot had a good time TEARS folks and Nealsons came up after

 

MO 23  I howed corn til 11 went to fort got at Coop truck 1.28, fixed lower corell for the pigs poot 3 panels  in _________went over seen the Woods Bindeer work on F Becks

 

TU 24   We was _________to fort all day had a good time we got a company to buy a binder agreed to take a Mc Cormick got home at 7.

 

WE 25  John and I me and Bob Booth went to Pleasant Grove got the binder fetched it home with us took one of my horses and 1 of Johns got home at 9 there was three, Ephr and Jim and John Heley, Eastin and F Clark and T Whitby, C Beck we are to pay $3.00 dollars for it in 3 payments for 2 years.

 

TH 26   We fixed the binder up cut 4 acres for Booth had l of my horses and 2 of Booths to cut 1 ˝ acres, cut the rest with our boys horses took all day.  Jos Polson helped us with it all day for Sunberg we had a meating tonight I was poot in as President of the Company, Easton Vice President, F Clark secretary, agreed that F Clark and me was to run it in turns all satisfied with the arrangement

 

FR 27   Joseph Polson helped me with the binder all day we cut 6 ˝ acres of W for Tom Whitby used 2 of out boys horses 1 of toms all day

 

SA 28   Fred came and cut 1 ˝ acres for Tom Whitby 3 for Easton had the same teeme as yesterday for 3 acres of it an 2 of Eastons and 1 of our boys horses 1 ˝ acres it rained so we could not work

 

SU 29   It rained hard last night so the water came down the ditch we got a streem for 24 hours for cane, we stayed at home all day watered cane, taters and lusurn

 

MO 30  Took TEAR to Fork got a tooth pulled got back to work at 10 ˝ went out helped Fred to finish Eastons oats 2 acres with same teeme on Saterday afternoon

 

TU 31   We cut 3 acres of Wheat for Beck afternoon had 1 of Eastwoods and 2 for our boys horses

Fred and me went up to E Heleys north field to cut for him it was to wet so we went over to see the trial between the Woods an Mc Cormick binder to Rileys field there was about 50 men there they had 5 judges the Mc Cormic beat we went back at 2 cut 3 acres of oats for E Heley had his teeme and Johns horse Mig and Bill and Grant and Booths Kate

WE 1    Fred and me cut 5 acres for E Heley and 3 for Booth, used 3 of our boys horses and 1 of Booth 2 of E Heleys. John took the dropper down on bench cut 5 acres of Wheat for Eph Heley, Nephi , Tom Whitby James Heley Lewis Booth bound Eph helped ˝ of a day, poot in 1 day each got home at 6 cut it with my teeme and our machine

 

TH 2    Fred cut 2 acres for James Heley and 3 for Booths.  I cut 3 for James Heley and 4 for C Beck with my teeme and dropper John and Tom Whitby , Jos Heley and E Booth bound it took 3 of

 

FR 3     Fred cut 9 acres for John Heley with binder had 2 of E Heleys horses l of E Booths, I of John Heley, 1 of our boys horses.  I cut 4 acres for Fred my teeme and dropper John W and Jos and James Heley, E Booth, T Whitby bound it took 2 thirds of day.  I helped Fred 1/3 of a day

SA 4     I and F Cut 4 acres for him and 5 for his father had 2 of my horses 1 of Johns 2 of E Heleys l of Clarks.  I cut most of the time he shocked up 4 acres

 

SU 5     I went to meating John Booth spoke we went to Nealsons after noon stayed to supper there

 

MO 6   I and Fred cut 2 acres for our boys then Fred and me went to Pleasant Grove after Sunberg to fix our machine he came at dusk.

 

TU 7    We was all day tinkering with the Binder got 3 acres cut for the boys makes 5 after started on my Wheat went 6 rounds on 6 acres Sunberg stayed til dark it run some better up here we worked the boys teeme up here and on theirs

 

WE 8    Ward worked on tunnel today.  Fred run the machine I shocked up we cut my 6 acres of Wheat by noon and 5 ˝ acres of my oats after noon we had 3 of my horses and l of the boys horses 1 of Booths 1 of Freds cut 11 ˝ acres with the above teemes

 

TH 9    Ward worked on tunnel today. I cut 1 acre and all the back swaths on my oats we took the machine down cut 2 acres for Fred and 1 ˝ oats for Tom Whitby cut Toms alone we had 2 of my horses and 1 of Freds today.  Cris Hackett came up got Ward to night to dig well

 

FR 10   I shocked up some grain made a pig though went to the fort after the mower.  Cleaned up good came up cut the lower peace of lusurn by dark I got a pac of tea at Coop 25 on tick.  Rob Jones ask me to cut some oats

 

SA 11   I cut 4 acres of oats for R Jones came up sacked my lusurn that I cut last night I had 2 of the boys horses and 1 of mine to cut Robs oats, Jim cut C Becks lusurn with my teeme

 

SU 12   We went to the fort after noon TEAR stayed at home.  I went to Mitchels took old Bell we agreed to start the thresher up tomorrow at Higans we tried to buy him out he would not sell to us  I got home at dusk.

 

MO 13  I went to the fort got the binder and the mower came up Jim came up with me he cut this peace of  lusurn by the house with my teeme.  I cut my side oats with their teeme John took Trip and Mig went to help fiz the thresher up to thresh Hegand grain

 

TU 14   I raked this lusurn and poot it up.  Jim helped me we got done by 3 went to the fort I went to Hagons borrowed 10 bu of oats of him took them to Snow got 1 ,75 per hundred for them got 2 ofshoes4.25 l for TEAR the other for me. Bodison got home at dark done the chores

October 1883

 

MO1    I cut 1 load of cane took to the mill went and cut 1 ˝ acres of Lusurn for C Beck. Got home at dark

 

TU 2    I went to the fort funished cutting Becks lusurn I had dinner there went up to the mill to top cane but it started to rain had to come back to fort it rained til nearly night, first storm to amt to anything for 2 months, Jos Smith from Lehi was up

 

WE 3    Pigs out.  I fixed up the stack yard til about noon turned out the pigs.  I went to the Molass (Molasses) mill toped my cane 4 loads in 2 hours came home at 5 done chores it rained some during the day.

 

TH 4    It rained to day after noon I hooked up the Mairs Pet and Bell took the keg to the Molass mill to poot my molass in Came to fort saw Davis Strong he and his wife was very sick with confinement was going after Booth.  Ezekils boys came over after a heifer to day came up with me

 

FR 5     I shoed old Trip on hind feet then went to Mol mill got load of burgy We went over to the old mill got a  a gag of chips and chunks and board.

 

SA 6     I done my chores then had a chase to Nureses place after my horses tried Geo for a job of halling Dobies from Am Fork he said if he needed any help he would give me the first chance at 5.00 per thousand.  Come home hooked up the mairs went to Fort to go to the store but could not get in came up John came up with me helped me to poot Box on wagon and plow some potatoes up, TEAR and me picked them

 

SU 7     We got redy to go to meating, but it started to rain and we could not go we went to Lewises after noon stayed to supper got home at dusk, done chores

 

MO 8   I chored til noon fixed up the chicken coop went to fort got Shugar 75, matches 15, at Coop on tick.  James Mc Daniel, James Freestone, and Geo Adams and family, and Riley, James Polson, Hyram Davis started for Mexico today at 10 Jim and John came up this afternoon Jim helped me to plow and pick a row of potatoes after dinner Lewis and Jim got on a spree had a good time Lewis stood on his head.

 

TU 9    I cleaned the stable out and chored til noon because it was raining I went to the fort after coal oil never got any go pac of tea 25, bolts 20, paid $6.00 on book tic took 73 lbs of Wheat and Jim and me ground our axes, redy to start on his house tomorrow

 

WE 10  I done my chores hooked up the mairs took TEAR and youngens to the fort I helped Jim on his house we got 1 load of logs from the sawmill and poot up 1 ˝ rounds of logs TEAR got a 2 yds of coton flanel at 20 at store on tick, we got home at 5 been cold and clowdy

 

TH 11   I went to fort helped Jim til noon on his house poot up 6 logs raked C Becks hay after noon Jim got redy to go to the canyon he is going to take Mrs ST Bennett up and load tomorrow it has been mild but clowdy today, I got ˝ galen of coal oil on tick

 

FR 12   I poot up 3 sacks of Wheat and 5 of oats TEAR and Mrs Ward went with me to Lehi to Cuttlers store had 365 Wheat 5.17 lbs of Wheat at 85 cts per bu and 375 lbs of oats 135 per hundred oats 5.10 let Mrs Ward I have $4.00 and paid for shoeing Pet 1.75 for shugar 1.50 socks 70, washdish 25, Meat 50 plowlay 100, bolts 15, fish 25, raisins 15, prouns 10, Jos Hempy shoed my mair I furnished 2 shoes 25, cimmamon 10, it was very cold and clowdy all day rained some at 1 o’clock

 

SA 13   RENZO got been (bean) up nose.  I done the chores took the beens out of the wagon box poot them         to dry threshed some of them Renzo got been fast in his nose I had to take hime to Booth he could not get it out so I took hime to E Nashes he got it out with a hair pin hurt him pretty bad.  I fetched TEAR and the children home then went back helped John to shoe Nig on 1 foot and Trip 2 feet

 

SU 14   I went to meating had dinner at Mothers came up at 1 we stayed at home the rest of the day it rained about 4

 

MO 15  It was raining when we got up had been most of the night rained most of the day.  I took TEAR and children down to Lewises at 9 to help Christina to quilt I got 100 lbs of salt if Tom Whitby.  I have to pay hime1 bu of Wheat I fixed the Spring seat poot peace of Wood between spring and seat, got 20 lbs of poark of Nealsons Jim to let them have a pig 4 weeks ago

 

TU 16   When we got up this morning everything was wet has been raining a good deal during the night rained some through the day.  I shocked corn and chored this four noon hooked up went to fort at 12 TEAR took 8 lbs of butter to store got stocking 80, flanel 1.00, buttons 45, ____2.25 we stayed down til 4 came up got the cows done chores

 

WE 17  I done my chores John came up, him and me took some porcupine quills out of Dick’s nose he helped me to take little Liney down to Rob Jones bull we went from there over to the fort had dinner to mothers.  I helped Jim on his house after noon til 3 ˝ when it started to rain and snow rush us home continued storming til 5 ˝ I took Bell went out in our south fields got cows and Goodridge came up with me to borrow a plowlay of me come home got it

 

TH 18   Fair at Lehi, I done my chores threshed the beans before noon then we went to the fort I helped the boys to pick apples all this afternnon fetched 1 sack full of apples up with us fetched the cows up old Liney was Foundered there is a stock and vegetable fair at Lehi today and tomorrow

 

FR 19   I done the chores took teeme went over to mouth of Willow Canyon got some chips and chucks and trunk after noon I plowed 9 or 10 rounds whare I had come went to fort after cows run a cross John J Snow we went to Tom Charlises had ˝ gl cider, charged to me.  John and Him went to the Lehi Fair they run old Mig against too Lehi horses he beet

 

SA 20   I plowed 3/4 on acre this four noon with Trip Bell and I went to Fork after noon took 8 bu of wheat left 6 at the mill let H Bates have 2 bu and 223 lbs of oats the Wheat at 90 the oats 300 the butter 120 and in all 6.00.  Bot pair of shoes for TEAR 2.50 shirt for me 1.50 socks 40, shugar 75 tea 25, coffee 25, matches 25, candy 10.  Amt $6.00.  I only got 65 lbs of flower on the grist.  I got home at 5 it had been fine weather for 3 days

 

SU 21   I done the chores went to meating took TEAR and the children to Lewises left the teeme there she never went to meating RENZO never had good pants Geo Clark and John Devy and Asdams took all the time speaking on the order of Concecration (consecration) and the signs of the times.  I went to Lewises to dinner we stay there til 4 ˝ came home I went up to Strongs field after the cows got back dark

 

MO 22  I plowed about 1 1/4 of the long length where I had potatoes and cane went to the fort at noon to see Dan Johnson about the price of poark in Salt Lake he said 9 and 10 ct per lb.  Jim came up to get my barrels to have cider poot in tomorrow

 

TU 23   I done the chores emptied the vinnagar barrel took it to the fort for Jim to take to Pleasant Grove to poot cider in he was gone when we got down TEAR took 2 lbs of butter to the store got 30 per lbs.  Bot thread 20, buttons 20, hair pins 10, we got home at 11.  I plowed the rest of the day til 4 then went to the fort helped John to fix up to go up to Am Fork Canyon tomorrow to hall lumber from Worthys Mill up to live Yankee

 

WE 24  I took little red to the fort to the mister cows it was to late I went over to Mothers John was just going to the canyon took old Trip and their 3 horses Worth Nash and Mrs Bennett went up with him went at 11.  I came up had dinner then plowed 19 rounds on this long length by the house done the chores milied and bed

 

TH 25   Jim helped me Jim and be plowed on this long length next to the house.  Jim had Rileys teeme he came at 10 ˝ he plowed 19 rounds we plowed about 2 acres in all I plowed 5 rounds more Tears Father and Mother came up fetched 2 sack of potatoes that he borrowed last spring I sold home 1 of them little pigs that I got of R Jones for 300 lbs of cabbage it rained and stoped us from plowing

 

FR 26   It was stormey this morning I done the chores we then hooked up the teeme went to the fort took 60 lbs of oat amt 75.  TEAR got oil for lamp stockings 25 for OSKER windowlites 40, took it all I helped Jim poot up 2 rounds on his house took 2/3 of day

 

SA 27   Helped Jim it was very cold and clowdy this morning continued so I done the chores poot 3 lights in the windows then went to the fort helped Jim on his house all day got home at sunset.  We got all the logs poot up but 4 got it up same 9 logs high.  First snow

 

SU 28   2 or 3 inches of snow, snowed some til noon very cold all day we stayed at home Jos Beck came up at 11 stayed til 5 went out hunting rabits but never got any I shut the fattening sow up and I that was going to have pigs started tying the cows up tonight

 

MO 29  Very fine day.  I done my chores then poot up some grain went to Fork after my buggie wheel and grist that I left a week last Saturday, the wheel was not done took 335 lbs of Wheat and 76 lbs of oats to Bates and 2 lbs of butter at 30 cts the Wheat at 90 it all amounted to 6.60.  Bot cloth for pants for RENZO 75, curry comb 20, coffee 25, ax handle 35, left on book 1.00.  Ezekiel and Rhoda had fetched Mother and Martha home yesterday. 

 

TU 30   I done chores poot a new handle in my ax.  Jos Beck and me went up Freemans dugway got 12 sticks of timber 5 of them was ties that Hy Heley cut 2 years ago and left because he could not get them, we got the 12 about 1/3 of the way down about 1 ˝ cords got home at sunset done the chores Arther was plowing

 

WE 31  Fine day.  We arose at 6 ˝ done the chores got redy went up Prestons Canyon after firewood took Trip and Jos Beck went with me after wood for them 1 horse I got 2 of them sawlogs that I bot of Franker Caster and 2 sticks that would make house logs about 3/4 of cord the road had snow on the most of the way and coming down Trip could not run fast enough to keep out of the way of the drag very near took him of the dugway 2 times.  Hos Beck got 2 sticks as notty as sin and the old mair wood not pool (pull) them from the stump, they were about the size of my smallest one but the old mair Was loaded to the ground he came all right whair he could makec the mair pull it we got to the mouth of the canyon by sunset and was glad we had got out alive with our horses un hurt.  Trip run away fro filly coming.  Lewis and Christina was here to supper fetched us some pig meat

TH 1    Fine day.  I done the chores shocked corn for pigs and horses.  I forgot the old sow had 5 pigs when we got up.  I plowed 18 rounds of 4 acres on the long length to day.  Jos Beck fetched us 300 lbs of cabbages to pay for that little pig that they got from me the other day I got of R. Jones

 

FR 2     Fine but clowdy at eve.  I done the chores took TEAR and children to Christina to help her quilt. I come up plowed 20 rounds on long length then went down after folks had supper there

 

SA 3     Fine all day.  I done the chores poot the old sow out with her pigs went over to the mouth of Prestons got 2 logs and load of saw dust then went to the fort took 50 lbs of oats 1.00 and 3 lbs of butter at 30.  Bot flanned of OSKERS dress 1.40 and coal oil 30, stove black 15, crackers 5 took it all up

 

SU 4     I done the chores took old Spot to R Joneses to sire then it was to late for meating so we stayed at home all day because it was very cold and clowdy it rained some.  Jos Beck came up at 11 stayed all day Trip came home to nite he had been out in the fields since day before yesterday with some colts

 

MO 5   I was not very well had the colic or bowell complaint one of the sows had 8 pigs last night 1 was dead another very neer.  I took 6 and poot them to the sow that had pigs last Thursday she took them all wright, I plowed 13 rounds in the after noon done chores.  Jos Beck fetched us a rabit tonite said his father was going to town tomorrow and Lewis also.  TEAR got mad at me and pooled her own hair like ______

 

TU 6    Fine but clowdy.  I done the chores plowed 23 rounds on long length Hyram Heley and James Nelson came up here at 3 as teachers stayed til 4 then went to P. Kits

 

WE 7    Clowdy looks like storm.  I plowed 8 rounds then poot up 2 sack of W and 2 of oats.  Went to Am Fork left TEAR and children at Becks, Christian has 260 lbs of wheat and 160 of oats it all came to 6.00.  Got pair of overalls 90, pair of boots 1.25 for RENZO paid for pair for me took it all up did not get buggie wheel it was not done.  TEAR took 2 lbs of butter to Coop of Alpine 30 ct lb, Bot yarn 15, salt 15, gingham 32, we got home at dusk done the chores by 9

 

TH 8    Stormed some.  I done the chores cleaned stable some, shocked corn for most of the day we went to the fort at 5 to see a ___________ CC Christensen from Sanpeat had 20 pictures of the ______ the saints

 

 

FR 9     This is thursdays acct and Thursday has got Friday acct.   We had breakfast then poot water on to kill a pig John helped me kill it it was the sow that I got of them last Spring for $10.00 we stuck her at 10 and had our dinner by 1.  I went to fort to see if the had a fellow that would do for my wheel they had not I sent after by boots by Youl Beck to Bates it stormed til 9 snow, rain

SA 10   I chored til boon fixing fence and cutting pig up.  I went to the fort took Lewises some meat and some to the old folkes let Dick Ward have the head at 7 ct weighted 19 let mother have 11 lbs that we owed them for mutton got a rack from Jims place went up Kits road got a big _____ I halled a load of dirt poot it on my potatoes in stack yard

 

SU 11   Liney had a calve at 9 ˝ morning.  I done the chores then got redy went to meating all of us there was 2 missionaries from Pleasant Grove Ben Brigs and Moroni Pratt they took most of the time Bishop spoke it was on building temples and Tabernacles and word of wisdom

 

MO 12  I plowed ˝ an acre in four noon loaded a load of tithing hay after noon to take to town tomorrow, fetched it up

 

TU 13   Fine day.  I got up at 4 got ready started to town (Salt Lake) at 6 ˝ noon at ____Tom Carlisle and Jed Wilkin , Davis and Don Strong Henry and Alfred Moyle, Anderson MC, Hyram H and W Devy and me we got to town at sunset and unloaded

 

WE 14  Fine day.  I came home form town got home at dark TEAR had Mrs Dunson up here they come up this after noon Jim and Fanny stayed with hur last night, she went to fort with them Sarah Ann fetched them up with their teeme at sunset

 

TH 15   Fine day.  I done the chores took Mrs Dunson home took my recipt to the Bishop he said there was not any more halling present he said that I could get hay for halling the load to town $7.00 fetched Martha up with me I shocked some corn and done the chores

 

FR 16   Fine Day.  I done the chores took old reds 3 year old hefer down to Rileys bull paid them about 60 lbs of cabbage came back hooked up the teeme up took Martha home TEAR took 5 lbs of butter to the store and got 30 cts for it.  Took 63 lbs of oats at 1 1/4 per lb.  Bot 1 qt of caster oil 50, and ˝ gal coal oil 20, stocking tea 20, shugar 25, due bill 43 ________cabbage_______

 

SA 17   Fine day.  I cut a gag of oaks ˝ cord around here took them to Dick Ward, charged him 2.50 for them done chores

 

SU 18   Fine but clowdy.  I done the chores got redy went to meating TEAR never went W J Strong red a surmon which took most of the time.  Bishop spoke the rest of the time spoke some on the necessity of sending children to school, said there was up wards of 100 children in this place that should be in school and there was not over 50 going spoke of gathering in those who do not belong to the improvement associationn those who do not belong in Sunday School.  I came home to dinner stayed at home the rest of the day

 

MO 19     Cold and windy.  I done the chores John came up said that Clark wanted him and me to work on the road today he helped me to poot the wagon box on I went down and worked til 3 then came home done the chores

 

 

 

TU 20   Cold and freezing all day.  We went to Am Fork took 420 lbs of Wheat and 170 oats got 90 ct for Wheat and 1.25 for oats and amounted to 84 butter 4 lbs at 25.  Bot Snows dress 2, 40, flanel 1.65, calico 25, ribbon 05, lace 15, cap 1.00, coffee button thread yarn 77

 

WE 21  It snowed all day slowly.  I chored around all day fixed Trip astall and manger.  Shoe Jos Becks mair 3 shoes, cleaned the stable out shocked some corn I went to the fort at night to the Littary Association we appointed E Heley for President, John Moyle Vice President J Wilkin Secretry, TH Booth thresherrey there was 14 members

 

TH 22   Snowed a little clowdy all day.  I done the chores shocked some corn, bedded the stables good, fixed some mangers for the cows done all the chors fixed the pig pen to keep little pigs warn covered it over

 

FR 23   I done the chores went to the fort got at the store sulpher, salt peter, ginger and raisens amt 35, went to Dunsons to see John Main had some cider there tried to traid (trade) John out of some sheep but he said they was going to start out west with them tomorrow and e would not have time to get them he said I could get some in 2 or 3 weeks by going out to the hurd for them for 1.00 per heat that is the old ones that will not winter out

 

SA 24   I done the chores then went down to the botom of the lusurn and cut some oaks off under the ground went to the fort after noon TEAR took 3 lbs of butter got C flanel 3 yds at 27 buttons 10, I cut 2 pigs for boys

 

SU 25   I done the chores but it was to cold to go to meating so we stayed at home all day Lewis and Christina came up at 12 stayed til 5 it was very cold all day.

 

MO 26  I done the chores went over to Devys house to see who was feller that was getting stump of the seder (cedar) wood, it was Oliver Smith and an other fellow form Am Fork I went down to Nealsons told them to come up after their pig.  I cleared oaks off and birnt (burned) the brush on that peace below the lusurn

 

TU 27   Fine day.  I done the chores started grubing oaks had to take old Spot to Rob Jones again took him came back took the folks to fort took 5 lbs butter to store Bot starch 15, buttons 40, shugar 25, comb 10, raisons 5, script 20

 

WE 28  I done the chores grubbed oats all day between lusurn.  I went to Litterary at night Jos Beck stayed here, I spoke on the subject first speakers the subject was what was our object in starting up Litterary we was all of one mind

 

Th 29    Fine day.  worked hard.  Jos Beck and me went up Freemans Canyon after wood, we got about 2 cords the other day started got it to forks today

 

FR 30   Fine day.  I done the chores then poot up some grin went to Am Fork TEAR went to the fort stayed all day.  I took 5 bu and 20 lbs of Wheat to Chipmans payed $4.50 that I was owing him $2.30 unpaid yet.  Let Robinson have 4 bu of Wheat for cash got 80 cts per bu paid JL Snow 205 lbs of oats 2.70 on what I was owing home, owe him about 5.00 yet.  Got home at 5 to the fort, they were going to dance for primary at night and a binder meating so we stayed.  I went to binder meating we decided on the prices allowed they agreed to alow (allow) me 1/5 ct per acre for cutting with dropper and give the binders 1.25 per acre.  TEAR took the children and went to the dance.  RENZO danced 5 times like a tropper but there was quite a disturbance with E Nash for the officers had to poot him out of the party and Youl and Yan Beck and Lincoln Carlisle and John Beck and John Watkins tried to stop them from pooting him out was quite a rumpus the large ones had a dance afterward for 25 cts per ticket

 

 

DECEMBER 1883

 

 

SA 1     Fine day Trial I done the chores then went to the fort to see how the boys was coming out they had 6 of them arrested and fetched into cort they stated they were not redy for trial, trial adjourned til Tuesday

 

SU 2     Fine day til night I done the chores never went to meating went down after noon left TEAR at Lewises I went to the fort to see if Sunburg had come for to have threshing machine he never came I stayed waiting for him til night, Stayed to Lewises to supper the boys complained with the city about their frakus Friday night

 

MO 3   Fine today It rained last night some I done the chores then went to the fort after some hay that was coming to me from the tithing office to Bishop was not at home so I did not get it come up grubbed some oakes fetched a box full up to furn done the chores

 

TU 4    Stormed a little in four noon   I killed a pig 8 months old took it to Am Fork for John Snow but he was over stocked could not sell it any where else so I fetched it home took 3 bu of wheat to Mill and 3 to Chipmans got that chopped at the mill for hogs got 8.5 per bu for that sold and took 6 lbs of butter at 25 paid 2.35 that I was owing Bot Jacket for OSKER 1.00, shugar 50, coffee 25, and paid 2.50 on the twine self note and 2.50 for the boys that they sent got buggie wheel

 

WE 5    Fine but clowdy some rain I done the chores then Jim and Frank Manning came up stayed an hour then I went down with them and stayed the rest of the day we went to Tom Carlisles had some cider had good time.   Jed and David Hamnett and Jim and Frank Manning and that Billingsly was there

 

TH 6    Snowed and blew cold all day   I done the chores cleaned the stables out and bedden them shocked some cane for pigs cut the pig up and hung it up to freeze.  Went to the fort took 40 lbs of wheat to the store got coal oil 30, yeast powder 18, nails 6 got home at sunset done chores.  Frank Manning and that Billingsly started home at 11, John Watkins went to town yesterday with apples and taters

 

FR 7     I done the chores Beck and Jos came up to go after that wood up Freemans dugway we started from here at 10 got the wood within about 100 yds of the horse road when I got my foot hurt so we had to quit and Beck and Joseph had to cut a drag of brush of me to ride down on, they fetched me to the bottom of Mt on dray I rode Trip home.

 

SA 8     I had to stay in the house all day and doctor my foot I can not stand Jos Beck came up 2 times done the chores for us Blow sow had 7 pigs

 

SU 9     Fine day We got up at 7 ˝ had breakfast before we went to feed.  Joseph Beck never came up so I went out on my crushes and untied the cows and turned them out for TEAR to milk turned the horses out to water TEAR fed and milked the cows and Jos came at 10 ˝ he said he had to clean the meating house out alone and that was the reason that he did not come before, he fed the horses and stayed the rest of the day John came up and said that they had only just hurd (heard) that I was hurt and come to see if it was so him and Jos B done the chores at nite

 

MO 10  Fine day John came up helped TEAR to milk and feed the stock.  My foot was some better today tthat it has been I could poot a little weight on it today an walking.  I made the boys a little wagon and helped TEAR to do the chores she gave John about 8 lbs of meat today

 

TU 11   Very fine day  We got up at 7 had breakfast before we went out to do the chores.  I milked 3 cows and fed them and horses TEAR fed the pigs I shocked 2 boxes of corn Jim came up and helped us to do the chores and get some wood this evening

 

WE 12  Fine day   I had breakfast before we went out to do the chores.  Jos Beck came up to see how my foot was he helped us to do the chores.  I milked Jos Cut some wood and I shocked 3 sacks of corn

and done all the bedding and the chores my foot is getting so I can walk on it but I could not poot a shoe on yet.  Jos fetched the white wash brush up tonight his horse away from him

 

TH 13   Very foggy all day and cold.   I done the most of the chores, Jos Beck fetched my mair up he fed the horses and cows I milked fed the pigs and churned for TEAR, shocked 1 sack of corn   The Singer Agent came up to see me about paying for the machine he gave me til the 15 of February to pay the first note of 25 dollors and til the 15 of October 84 to pay the other forty dollors and a little interest he was very leanient with me   Lewis came up fetched us a taste of meat and stayed 2 hours John came up stayed 2 hours said that he tried all around town to sell my little pigs but they all had their pigs___for Christmas I told him to bring them he got them at 4.00 each he got back last night at 7 started 11 yesterday   I let Jim Nelson take Trip to hall wood 3 days for him and horse 1 day

 

FR 14   Foggy and cold I done the chores then took the rest of the day white washing the house TEARS father came up and fetched us a taste of meat they killed Wednesday   My foot hurt me considerable standing on it so long I done the chores by dusk hant been to fort since the 6 th

 

SA 15   I done the chores shocked some corn got redy to go to fort when Tom Whitby came up after that 10 dollars that I was owing him on old Bell that Jim and W Devy was to have paid him we went to the fort with him to see about it    TEAR took 8 lbs of butter to the store at 20 cts got OSKER paid of shoes 1.30, ginger10 ct, skin yarn 15 Jim said that he could not pay it so I will have to pay it

 

SU 16   Fine day We done the chores then got redy went to the fort we was too late for meating went to Sarahanns to dinner TEAR stayed there til night John and me went to Pools to a threshing machine settleing up we worked at til dark agred to see our grain right away if we could get 1.25 for Oats and 85 for the Wheat there is 317 bu of Wheat and 363 of oats on hand and all expenses paid

 

MO 17  Clowdy looks like storme I done the chores then poot up 231 lbs of Wheat TEAR took 2 lbs of butter we went to the fort to store got 85 for the Wheat and 20 for the butter amt to 3.60 got 2 3/4 yds of jeans at 60 ct per yd, lining 27 ct, buttens 25, Brade 10, cloves 5, rasiens 5   I also got dew bill on the saw mill of W Devy on the loss of old railer I took the dew bill to Tom Whitby to

 

aply on the difference between Bell and Doll I also paid him 500 in wheat at 85 cts per bu which made up, straite again

 

TU 18   Fine day I done the chores went down to the lower end of lusurn and cut oaks til noon my foot got to hurting and I quit I shocked 2 sacks of corn and cleaned about 2 loads of muck out of the stable done the chores, milked 4 cows

 

WE 19 I done the chores then cut oaks til noon then hooked the teeme up went to the fort borrowed Hacketts wagon cover went up to S W Browns to see some little pigs he wanted to see me he said he would take 7 bu of wheat and 20 lbs of Lusurn seed for the 6 pigs six weeks old we did not trade I offered him 6 bu of wheat and 30 lbs of Lusurn seed, got some sacks come home got a box of oakes OSKER walke          alone today for the first time he has stood alone for some time

 

TH 20   I done the chores poot the water on to scald the pig John came up at 9 helped me to kill 7 pigs, 1 big one and 6 small ones 6 weeks old, done the chores went to the fort to get somebody to stay with TEAR while I went to town (SLC)   Mother said she could come and stay with hur then I came up and poot up 5 sacks of grain Wheat and loaded up for town to start tomorrow poot all the 7 pigs in

 

FR 21   I got up at 4 got redy started to town at 6 ˝ it started to storme whtn I got to Austons place

snowed til 1 got to Dunsons then changed to rain rained til I got to town I nooned at Sandy at Sam Reeds went there to see if I could sell him some pigs he was filled up got to town at 4 ˝ sold 4 lbs of butter for 1.00 poot up at tithing office went around town to see if I could sell my pigs the shops were filled up to Brim

 

SA 22   It rained most of the night and rained and snowed til noon.   I sold the big pig at the White House at 7 ct per lb went 134, sold 5 little ones to Swane he runs the Walker House and Continental for 2.00 each turned one in for tithing redy dressed then bot me and RENZO an over coat each paid 3.00 for his and 6 for mine came to Draper tonite Had 111 bu of wheat got 80 at Houslers

 

SU 23   Ezekiel P and me stayed up til 1 last night taking we layed til 9 this morn got up tended teems had breakfast at 10 I stayed there til 12 chatting got home at 3 the road was slipery

 

MO 24  I done the chores then went to the fort took 2 bu of Wheat and 2 lbs of butter to store

TU 25   I done the chores then poot up 80 lbs of oats and we all got redy and went to the fort to Mothers to dinner.  Ezekiel and Rhoda was their also and Emeling Manning and Jim and Fanney and Eph and Mary and some of Rileys We all went to Marys to supper and then to the dance stayed down til about 10 then came home done chores went to bed

 

WE 26  We done the went to work and cleaned the stables out TEAR done hur chores got redy for Ezekiels folks and our for dinner there was Ezekiels and Mother that came up had dinner they started for home at 2 they took mother home I done chores Ezekiel said he would like to bring his sheep over here for 3 or 4 weeks to eat my straw and clalf up and make maneur

 

TH 27   I done the chores cleaned the stables out got redy went to the fort took 80 lbs of oats to the store but glass picture for Theador Beck for a wedding present then went to the wedding they had their

 

 

            wedding at S Y Becks they were married by S W Brown at 3 o’clock there was all the Becks

            present and our Jim and John Danny and Celestia and E nash and Berg and Luker Boys and they had a dance at Beck T F Carlisle also got married

FR 28    I done the chores cleaned the stables out got redy and went to the concert at night goten up by the  young peoples mutuals had a very good time there was 25 peaces, recited and song it was very interesting all through

 

SA 29   I done the chores then went to the fort bringing to get a load of hay form tithing office but the road was too soft they had a trial Sam Strong and E Nash us and John Beck up for swearing fined Sam Strong 412 with cost and E Nash $6.00 with cost.  John Beck got off free.  I stayed down to the fort til Ezekiel fetched his sheep over today fetched over the trial   ??

 

SU 30   We stayed at home all day Ezekiel was here all day   Jim and John and Fanney and Emeline and Nett and Jos Polson came up at 1 stayed to supper at 4 Ezekiel went to the fort to stay all night at Masons.  Dashia Brown died tonight at 2 o’clock on the 31

 

MO 31  I done the chores then poot up 5 sacks of Wheat took it to the mill the mill was froze up so that I could not get it ground got 1 sack of flower came up to the fort the Doctor Rogers was at Sarahannes so I went doen there to see how she was they said there was but little chance for hur to get better he said it was the type of Pnemonia and that hur only show was to get the phlem up when the gethering broke on hur lungs.  I stayed there til 5 come up done the chores at dusk this being the last night of the year 83 I make this statement of account as follows:
