JANUARY 1886

 

FR 1     Very break and cold snowed and drifted some.  I done the chores worked on my new shed til noon then done the chores for night tied the cows up harnessed up and we all went to the fort to a dance for the children, had coffee at Becks befour we went to the dance had supper there , came up at dusk stayed home they had a picknick (picnic) Party to night for every body that went to the party

 

SA 2     Find day but a very cold night last night.  I done the chores went sown to the fort to see S Moyle about some money but could not find him got the stear that I bot of S W Brown 2 weeks a go fetched him home went to fort and got the bull for Pride.  James Price came up here this evening fetched some candy for the children him and Will and David came over yesterday to the dance

 

SU 3     Clear but cold in the shade.  We all went to meating the Bishop took most of the time Speaking of the good amt of tithing that has been paid this last year and the increase of money on the tithing books and the good amt of donations to Temple and Tabernacle and said he felt to Congradulate the People for their good behavior though the holidays and stated that Joseph A Vance had reci a letter from John Taylor to prepare for a mysion to the north Western States in April of this year.  Bro Adams spoke about 20 minutes on general Principles.  We had dinner at Becks and stayed til 4.  Paid E Nash $10 that I borrowed of him last Monday got this $10 of S Moyle of lot difference there is yet $25 dew me on it

 

MO 4   Fine day and mild and quite warm.  I worked on the new shed all the four part of the day, fixed the fence between stack yard and lower corell and fed the loose stock in there tonight.  Started to fed for CM Beck ( Curtis Mathis Beck) at $ 5 per month

 

TU 5    Fine and clear hard frost last night.  I done the chores hooked up went to Am Fork to get the deed fixed on the trade of S Moyle he and me Greenwood had not time to do it took 135 lbs W to Bates got tea coffee75, factery 75, matches 10, candy 5

 

WE 6    It was snowing when we got up snowed most of the day.  I done the chores and carried water for WIFE to wash went to fort after my hog that has stayed down there took 9 lbs of butter down for Beck to take to town tomorrow.  But he did not know wether he would go or not yet.  Left 1.00 there for him to fetch a packet   of tea from town with _______stayed down all day at the shoting match between Alpine Club and Am Fork Club the Am Fork Club beat Alpine 33 points in 8 shots 6 on each side there was James Shradily, E King, S Mott, James Carter and David Mitchel and H Parker from Am Fork and David Mc daniel, Geo Mc, Jos Moyle, John Moyle, TF

 

            Carlisle, and Lyncon Carlisle (Lincoln Carlisle) from Alpine.  I stayed til they got through, fetched my pig up home

 

TH 7    A bitter cold day some wind a foot of snow by to nite it was snowing and blowing when we got up this morning it had snowed about 1 foot during the night, blowed all day I done nothing but chores and went out and caught a rabit never seen anybody except my own folks it was a very cold day

 

FR 8     Fine clear day but cold in shade I done the chroes poot the water on to kill a pig, started to the fort to get some body to help me to kill it met Jim hunting rabits down on the hill between my land and Walton.  I hunted awhile with him then came over and killed my pig while TEAR was cooking a rabit that we caught started on pig at 2 ˝ got done at 4 Lewis and John was out to_______Coppie of a letter I wrote to the Alpine City January 8. “Gentlemen in vewing the list of names who had received presents through purchasing your good I fail to see a represnative of Alpine so we thought we would try our luck and send for l tea and coffee you will parden us for sending so late as the ___________we our occupation is farming and stock raising the tea for Joseph and the coffee for James Watkins, address Jos and James

 

SA 9     Fine day but cold.  I poot up 1 sack of wheat and sold Len Goodridge 100 lbs beside the sack I took it to Fork it weighed 135 lbs Bot coal for 90 ct of it got shugar for rest $4.  Old Mrs Devy went to Fork with me I settled us up with S Moyle and Sagner.  The deed Recid $20 of him today which makes $50 in all got the deed of him for the lot and had Greenwood to fix them, I paid him 1.50 for making mine we came home.  This is what I have done with the $50 that I got between lots.  Bot 4 claves (calves) for $28 paid $15 on stear to S W Brown and 5 to F Beck for bedsteads and 1.50 to Greenwood for making out deeds $1 to paper.  What will be the increase in l year on that $50

 

( Bed steads is the frame work that supports the springs or mattress of the bed )

 

SU 10   Fine day and clear.  We all went to meating Bro G Bodison and Mc Collough took the time aloted ( a Lotted) for meating speaking of the Passage of the Edmond Bill which is now going through Congress of the United States.  Bishop stated that it had already passed 1 house and the probility was it would pass the other and the President of States we went to Mothers to dinner me and boys went to school.(Sunday School)

 

( Edmond’s Bill made plural marriage a felony and prohibiting polygamists from

voting,  holding public office, or performing jury duty )

 

MO 1   Mild day but somewhat clowdy.  I chored til noon hooked up went to fort took some meat for Booths as a present and some for Becks and told E Nash about his horses again that are bothering meBot pair of Bed sticks of Carpenter Beck for $8 paid 5.50 on them and fetched them home with me and Jt reported that the Deputy Marshals had taken Bishop Bromley this morning for Polgima (Polgamy) took him out of bed

 

 

 

 

TU 12   Fine and clear inclined to thaw I halled 3 loads of muck on the east end of North peace in hollow cut some oaks to burn down there, I went to the fourt after the paper Mother was taken very sick at ˝ past 6 had a fainting spell for ˝ hour or more.

 

WE 13  Milk and thawing looks like snow.  I done the chores halled 2 loads of muck on east end of north peace in hollow and spread it got a gag of oaks went to the fourt to see how Mother was and get paper.  She said she was feeling better except the pain in her side and the cough was not any better as yet

 

TH 14   It snowed most all day and blowed after noon I worked on the shed pinning the cross peaces on and poot______til 2 when Jos Beck came up after his gloves I went to the fourt with him at 3 to see how Mother was she was not any better the pain had not left hur side and cough no better.  I came up at 4 ˝ done the chores by dusk read the paper

 

FR 15   Fine day little clowdy at night.  I hooked up halled 1 load of muck in hollow east end.  Hyrum Heley and family came up at 11 stayed til 9 tonight.  Just came for a visit we had a very good time I cut my hog while Hyram was here to help me I took 7 shoes off his horses for him

 

SA 16   It was a fine mild day, cold at eve.  I went to the fourt took 7 head of E Nashes horses down that has been bothering me all winter for 6 weeks or more.  There was a butcher from Salt Lake buying

beef, I told him to come up and look at 4 of mine and if they suited him he could have them for $25 each he said they were not fat enough so he never took tehm.  I done the chores

 

SU 17   It was clowdy til 3 started to snow.  We all went to Meating Reno Vance Father spoke 3/4 of an hour Peat Lun spoke of the Ancient Prophets refering to our day, Bishop gave a few hits about the Legislature as he is now employed as on of that body spoke of the Governers messsage and said that the members could hardly keep their seats while is was being red that it was such an outrage.

 

MO 18  It snowed 6 inches during the night.  I done the chores swept paths to correl carried water for WIFE to wash went out and caught 4 rabits got home at 3 had dinner done the evening chores a strong south wind started to blow at 4 is blowing yet, hard

 

TU 19   The south wind is blowing yet I chored and churned til noon shoveled snow off the shed dug 2 post holes and poot posts in them under the shed for shed posts fixed up fences and piled some muck

 

WE 20  Mild til 2 then started to rain, but thawing I done the chores poot up 3 sacks of Wheat went to Fork took 340 lbs of Wheat to mill sold 60 lbs to the Coop store sold 14 lbs of butter to Bates at 15 ct paid him $1 that I owed him on some oil Bot tea and coffee 40 cts, shugar 25, rice and currents 25, chicken

            Bot at Coop factery 40, candy 10, chocklet Bot whisky of S Roley

 

TH 21   Rained most of last night and til 2 today I worked on the new shed most of the day between showers VICTORIA started to talk today or to say “pritty Vicky,” sje can say “ papa” and

 

 “mama” City up their and so on, it has been thawing for 3 days the snow is most gone.  Pride took the white bull

 

FR 22   Snowed and rained most of the day.  I done the chores hooked up and took 100 lbs of oats to store Bot nails 25, shugar 25, matches 10, cloth to make OSKER a waist 20, script 15 I got home at 12 boarded and slabed the west side of shed.  It rained and snowed most of the day it is very slushy and thawing.

 

( Waist was a piece of clothing that covered the waist of the body )

 

SA 23   It rained some off and on during the day I worked at the shed til noon Becks came up at 1 to OSKERS birthday Party or supper they fetched a china cup and saucer up for a present they stayed to supper I done the chores by dark

 

SU 24   It rained all day off and on We went to meating Thornton Booth and Elizabeth ann make an acknolledgement (acknowledgement) of committing adulty and asked for forgiveness but Bishop said it would have to go further.  We had dinner at Mothers I and the 2 boys went to school got home Magalena and her bow was here when we came and Phill also

 

MO 25  It was raining and snowing most of the day.  I pilled muck most of the day and made a stall for old Spot and tied 2 of the stears up in the shed also Joseph Beck was up this afternoon to invite us to their place fro dinner tomorrow he stayed about 1 hour.

 

TU 26   It has been fine today snowed 1 inch last nite I got the chores all done hooked up Trip and Bell and we all went down to Becks to dinner stayed to supper also Lewises was there also we got home at dusk done the chores

 

WE 27  Clowdy but no storme til after noon I cleaned the stable out and Lewises came up at noon stayed til 6 I done the chores after Lewises went home.

 

TH 28   Mild some clowds no store, thawing I done the chores went to fort took 75 lbs of oats at 1 ct lb to the store Bot soap 10, lye 25, thread 15, script 25 Came up at 12 Old man Scot came today to see how him and me stood we looked over our accts and I was owing him $2.50 I told him he could have anything that I have got, wheat, oats, flower, potatoes, meat , butter or money if he waits til March.  O sold Len Goodridge 50 lbs of wheat today for 50 cts cash Hyram Heley and James Nelson was up teaching at 3 today.  I gave him 50 cts in cash on the taberinacle donation I cut a gag of oaks to go on shed poot them on and l load of straw

 

FR 29   It has been fine most of the day no storme a few clowds at eve I worked at pinning the cross peaces on the new shed and pooting the brush on and straw on and fixing mangers etc Jos Beck came up at 7 stayed til 9 we had a game of cards

 

SA 30   Very cold til 3 then started to rain raining yet at 9 I done the chores took the shoes off the horses hooked up took TEAR and Children to the fourt to Lewises I went to Fork took 10 lbs of butter to Bates at 17 ˝ got script 25, shugar 75, shirting waist for REN, coffee 20 tabacco for Lewis took 115 lbs Wheat to Dunkleys Bot a bottle of HHH horse medison 50, and candy 10, script 50 had supper at Lewises got home at dark

 

SU 31   Clowdy but no storme of any concequence I and the folks stayed at home all day except I went to the fourt after the paper at 3 got back at 4 ˝ done chores As this is the last day of February I state the conditions of the season it has been thawing for 2 weeks raining and south wind the land is all bear and roads very mudy some is starting to plow sage and Lusuren I can plow in 2 or 3 days

 

 

FEBRUARY 1886

 

 

MO 1   It rained all night and most of the day I done chores went to the store got Kian pepper 10, sago 15 stayed at the store l hour gassing (gabbing) with the boys there was E Nash, E Heley, E Okey,F Clark, CM Beck our Jim and John, Sam Strong.  W Nash all at the store and Yan Beck H Walton I got home at 2 ˝ poot a manger along west side of west shed poot 2 posts in it and nailed slabs on them for manger.

 

TU 2    Sleak and rain til 2 none after I loaded 12 bu of potatoes in wagon took them and 3 lbs of butter to Bates at Am Fork got 32 ˝ for potatoes and 17 ˝ for butter Bot shovel 90, perhalls85, factery 1.00 dress for VICTORIA 45, waist for REN 26, tea and coffee 45, rock salt 42.  I got home at dark roads very bad

 

WE 3    Rained considerable last night fine day I halled 2 loads of straw and poot it on shed anf 2 for bedding Len Goodridge came up Bot 50 ct worth of wheat of me at 1 ct Bro Beck came upto LORENZOS birthday (turns 6) fetched him a china cup and saucer cost 30 ct Mrs Beck never came she is sick I done the chores then went to fort after paper to Mothers

 

TH 4    Very warm and summery day I done the chores Len Goodridge came up to work for me today for 20 lbs of wheat per day he cleaned the pig pen out while I was milking and doing the chores then F Beck came up to work on the ditch so I and Len worked with him we poot 3/4 of a day each 1 ˝ to me

 

FR 5     Fine summery day clear I worked on the ditch all day there was F Beck, Alfred Devy, Goodridge and his boy 5 of us in all only l for me

 

SA 6     Very warm and pleasant day I poot full day on the ditch there was F Beck, 2 for Riley 4 of us in all We started where the ditch runs into the mt south of Smooth canyon worked to about 10 rods by and my head gateJohn and W Devy and Geo Bodison surveyed the ditch around the pond east of Devys house to do away with levy they were at it most of the day we all quite at 4 ˝ I hunted Spot tilvdark

 

SU 7     Fine til evening started to clowd up I hunted for old Spot til l o’clock went to Willow Canyon and over by Ed Okeys land and down to fourt to see if she had went through the fourt but could not hear of hur Came up and saw hur about ˝ way between yellow mine and Freemans hollow on the little flat  in oak brush patch was little bull calve white and red spots from our white bull we never went of any where because it was to late I got cow

 

MO 8   It has been snow squally all day and wind I cleaned the stables out and poot a gate in front of the shed took the pertition out between Spots pen and Lineys poot up 2 slabs in front of shet by gate went down to botom of lusurn and cut 1 patch of oaks out to sew lusurn fetched the oakes up with me that would do to burn We started to ween VICTORIA today she has not been any bother yet

 

TU 9    Very cold and freezing this mornig at noon got windy.  I poot in a full day on the ditch from my south head gate to the Levy or where we started the new ditch to go around pond There was F Beck, Yan B, Riley, and John Mc for Riley H Walton W Devy, Geo Bodison and John Devy and Alfred ˝ of the day

 

WE 10  It had snowed 2 or 3 inches duing the nite already clowdy I done chores went to the fourt got shugar 25, oil olive 15, at store paid script on Dunkleys Bot 25 ct worth of Balidona of R T Booth paid cash for Tears breast she is weening VICTORIA Stayed to see a race with Nig and 1 young Martins from Cipeo (Scipio) Brag  racer but Nig got monie beat 2 lengths

 

TH 11   It was fine I worked on the new road that we are making past lime kill took TEAR and the Children down with me to hur mothers we worked at it all day there was F Beck, Riley, Walton, W Devy, Geo Bodison, Geo Mc Daniel and Yan Beck it will take 1 more day to finish it or more we got home at dark

 

FR 12   I went to Fork took 105 lbs of wheat and 10 lbs of butter to Dunkleys got 15 for butter and 1 ct for Wheat Bot plowlay 75, bucket 65, yarn 15, close line 15, salt 15, other truck 15, got script for rest Riley went with            Me we a dressed hog weighed 185 at 6 cts sold it to Dunkleys we came

 up past the Preist race track saw old Nig and David Mc Daniels horse run for $7.50 on a side, Daves horse beet 6 inches I lost 50 cts on it, blew Dick and Rubey horse run for 3 horses on side and $40.00 in cash and Dick wun the race he is owned by Peat Johnson he got 1 horse Josh Holeman got l and another fellow l  I got home at sunset done the chores

 

SA 13   Cold but no storme I worked on the new ditch around the levy there was me, F Beck, Youl and Yan, Riley, Vet for him John and Wil Devy and teeme ˝ day Johns ˝ Ed Okey and Geo Bodison, Geo Mc Daniel and Walton all worked on new ditch

 

SU 14   It was clowdy and cold no storme We all went to meating there was 2 mysionaries from Provo, Young Cluff and a jurmon they took all the time except a few moments the Bishop had they spoke of the necessity of living our religion that we might stand the percicutions that we are called to pass through

We went to Mothers to dinner the high Bench Company had a meating at Fred Becks at 2 to apoint a Water Master and to make some arrangements about the stock that each man owned in the ditch they apointed F Beck for Water Master and a greed to call 5 days l share in the ditch and all work to that a continuation of agreement

those that had not got 5 days in the ditch to each acre that they had water wright for shall work that amt up and those that had more has the right to break and water as much as they have shairs for and get the benney fit (benefit) fof labor

 

MO 15 It started to snow at 7 ˝ this morning snowed til 2 but not to amt to anything I worked on the new ditch all day around the Levy by Devys house There was F Beck, W Devy, Geo bodison, Ed Okey, Phil Kits 5 of us and it snowed all the four noon but we worked.  One of my white sow pigs had 2 pigs last night some time

 

TU 16   Cool and clear had frost last nigh I poot in a full day on the ditch and our John poot in ˝ day for me I and John Heley, P Kits and Len Goodridge poot in our four noon work above my spring.  Okey, WDevy, F Beck and Nephi Heley finished the new ditch by noon aroung Levy the ditch has cost 20 days work or 30 dollors   We all worked from strait above the hosue to this afternoon to 4 or 5 rods north of my head gate making the ditch as large a gain as it was

 

WE 17    Fine day little frost last night I halled 2 loads of muck this four noon and worked on the ditch this    after noon there was Geo and Willard Mc Daniel, W Devy, Ed Okey, P Kits, Walton Heber,

Len   Goodridge, John and Nephi Heley for John Devy they all poot in full day I hired Perry ttoday for 1 month for $ 10.00 in such pay as I can afford to pay him, store pay and other truck.  He is to start work tomorrow

 

TH 18   Fine and summery little frost last nite Parey and me worked on the ditch all day and F Beck, Geo Mc Daniel, P Kits, Ed Okey, Len Goodridge for Geo Bodison.  We worked form 10 rods north of the turn between the upper spring to within 5 or 6 rods of waste gate making the ditch as large again We have poot in about 65 days from there to the Levy including the 20 days we poot on the new ditch.  Sold Len Good 2 bu of Wheat

 

FR 19   Fine clear and summery I halled a load of muck on the east end of the north peice in hollow went to Fork took 53 lbs oats to store at 1 ct per lb Bot l amt chimney 10, paper 15, turpentine 10, shugar 30 got scraper from Tom Whitbys fetched it up with me plowed on east end of North peace in hollow to scrape some of the flat place never done any scraping Perry poot in full day on the ditch for me F Beck and Yan and Riley and John Mc, H Walton, P Kits, Len Goodridge, Geo Mc ˝ day.

 

SA 20   Fine day clear and warme I done the chores got redy and we started to Am Fork at 10 we left the children at Becks we traded at Bates took 12 lbs of butter at 15 and 130 lbs of wheat at 1 ct and 1.70 in script bot dress for WIFE 2.50 and dresses and apron for VICTORIA 70 and bedstickings for Perry 1.40 rope 15, marbles 15, tea 25, we got Becks to Alpine at 2 had a bite at Becks I went to meating in the interest of the young people There were presideing officers from Provo Young Cluff and Brimhall and Mrs Jane Tanner and hur council in behalf of the young ladies they game some very good council to both We had l of the most interesting meatings that I ever experienced, Perry worked on the ditch all day also F Beck, P Kits, E Okey, and Len Goodridge

 

SU 21   Warm and pleasant We all went to meating bishop, Brown and Benjamin Drigs from Pleasant Grove was present and done most of the speaking our Bishop spoke a short time about Cannons arrest and how they fetched him into Salt Lake City.  We went to Christian Becks to dinner I went to F Becks to water meating or a meating of the High Bench Company to take in consideration what whould constitute a share in ditch it was agreed unanimously that 5 days should constitute 1 share in ditch and that each member should draw water acording to their shares in ditch it was also agreed that each member should draw privilages of working out as many shares as the ditch required this season but after this season no more shairs will be necessary.

MO 22  Fine and summery I done the chores took TEAR and Children to Lewises.  I went to fort took the grubbing hoe to shop to get it fixed Got my geneology fixed at Devys went to no others got old Bill fetched him up with me to scrape and plow  with fetched 9 poles out of the fence in my lot I plowed ˝ acre where I had corn last year on long length and went to Lewises after folks got back at 5 ˝ done chores Perry started to clean my head ditch out started at the west side of lusurn patch got ˝ way cross the patch

 

TU 23   Fine and pleasant I plowed all day with Bell and Bill plowed 1 1/4 acres Perry finished cleaning my head ditch out though the Lusurn patch across 8 acres of it 4 furrows in width

 

WE 24  Rained a little at 8 this mornin fine rest of the day Perry got mad and left this morning after Breakfast got mad because TEAR asked him to feed the pigs and srarted to the fort I plowed 1 ˝ acres with Bell and Bill done the chores

 

TH 25   Fine and clear all day I riddled 3 bu of wheat and sifted it and sowed 3 acres and harrowed and backed it down W Devy came and got 4 bu of wheat to apply on Blacksmith acct from last year.  LORENZO rode Trip to the fourt alone for the first time and took H Moyles wheat riddle home he was gone 1 3/4 hours Our Jim came up after old Bill this evening they are going to start pooting in the grain tomorrow in the south field Lee Clark and John Moyle was here at 5 with a petition to have Govener Murrey veto the Alpine extention bill

 

FR 26   Clowdy day started to rain at 4 rained all nite and snowed I finished backing this 3 acres of Wheat on long length and layer it off got it done by noon worked at fixing up the corell after noon

 

SA 27   It snowed 2 inches last night, clowdy all day one storme I went to fourt took 58 lbs of oats to store Bot tea 22, shugar 33 for rest, fetched pair of posts and 7 poles from my lot fixed west side of corell with poles

 

SU 28   t snowed some last night snowed off and on I stayed at home all day on account of storme snowing WIFE had bad cold and soar throat and very stupid and drule It snowed all four noon and conciderable this afternoon I fed and watered stock and red (read) news papers to pass the time as this is the last of February it is as well to stare how the wheather has been and what has been done and so on.  We have had very good wheather all through the month the snow has been gone on the level lands since January and we have poot in 12 days on our ditch to each member that owed us We started on the 4 of this month and worked til the 30 then started to pooting our grain in had 1 week at that upto now I have got 3 acres of wheat in and finished off that is all.

 

 

MARCH 1886

 

 

MO 1   It was cold and clowdy no storme til night I done the chores the folks were sick OSKER and his MOTHER Len Goodridge came up to work for me fetched a rooster up to trade me he said it was a Plimeth (Plymouth Rock) wanted 1 of ours and 20 lbs of Wheat for it I gave him l and l lb

 

            of butter for his he worked for me all day we halled 1 load of muck and got some oaks then poot

            up 2 panels of pole fence between stacks and corell and done the chores OSKER is no better yet

 

TU 2    It was snowing very fast at 7 this morning it snowed some during last night snowed some til 10 this morning Len Goodridge came up after his pay for his work yesterday and the lb of butter that I gave him between roosters he came at 8 I went to the fourt after I got my chores done to get some flax seed but they had not got any at store nor at Mothers Got marbles 5 ct, nails 5 I came up at 2 done chores cleaned stales out and poot lot straw in lower corell

 

WE 3    It snowed l or 2 inches last nite and some today Len Goodridge worked for me today for 20 ct him and me grubbed sage and oaks at the botom of the Lusurn north of the house done a good big patch  F Beck came up to see if I could work on the ditch tomorrow I told him I could.  It started to snow at 4 snowed til 5 I done the chores early

 

TH 4    Fine but some clowds cool til noon I and Len Goodridge worked on the ditch all day we started about 75 yards this side of Prestons road and worked about 200 yards beyond the road there was Fred, Youl and Yan and Vet, W Devy and David Hamnett there was John Maine, E Okey, Geo Bodison, Geo Mc Daniel all worked together Yan had a teeme to plow with

 

FR 5     Mild day some clowds no storme I and Len worked on ditch poot in 2 full days between my head gate north of the house and the turn of the ditch it was a peace that was froze at the time of the working there and Beck said if I would do it he would credit me 2 days There was Beck and Youl and Riley with 2 others for him John and GM, W Devy, Geo Bodison, E Okey, Lewis Peterson,   I got my stent done before 4 o’clock went to the fourt after buggie W Hamnett and Thede Bateman had a fight by James Healeys

 

SA 6     It was snowing at 7 this morn got fine at 9 no storme I done the chores got redy went to Am Fork took 16lbs Butter at 17 ˝ per lb and 2 ˝ doz eggs at 12 ct it all came to 3.15 traded at Bates Bot shugar 25, tea 25, coffee 20, rice 25, nails 30, shirting 70, flanel 30, linseed pods 30, extract 50 lyckarish (Licorice) 15 he said he would pay me 6 ˝ cts per lb for my beef 2/3 in cash 1/3 on store told him he could get it

MO 8   Snowing off and on all day snowed last night I done the chores went to fourt took 77 lbs of what to Eastwoods got 70 lbs of salt and l galen of cider had to pay 20 cts in cash on cider Got the cider for WIFE and Childrens colds John came up with me and helped me to kill a pig that will weigh about 170 lbs we started out to stick him at 2 ˝ got him done by 3 ˝ I done the chores threw some straw in corell to feed stock on

 

 

TU 9    Clowdy and cool started to blow and snow at 6 eve I chored around til 12 then we hooked up and went to Alice Browns funeral there was a large turn out the meating house was crowed the Curveses (services) started at 1 ˝ the speakers was Brothers Bodison, a Marsh and Bro Adams prayer by George Clark, H Moyle closes the curveses by prayer, Devy dedicated grave

TH 11   Clowdy and cool no storme I done the chores cut the pig up cleaned the pig pen out shoveled some muck up in the stack yard Joseph Beck came up at 3 stayed til 5 we sent Lewises and them some meat

 

FR 12   Clowdy til noon fine after I piled muck in the stack yard til 1 had dinner and hooked up teeme went to fort after a hog and papers   Got Yan Beck hog and Topsy weighed she weighed 852 lbs

SA 13   Cold but no storme today snowed some last nite I done the chores and piled some muck poot up 2 sacks of wheat and took 5 doz eggs and 7 lbs of butter to Fork, left the wheat at the mill had it groundTook butter and eggs to Bates got 17 ˝ for eggs Bot shugar 25, coffee 20, oil 10, overhalls stuff for boys  Paid 40 cts that I owed him flannel 30, windowlites I got home at 4 ˝ Lewises was up today and the teachers was here at 11 this morn Lewises stayed to supper he got a gag of oaks while I was at Fork

 

SU 14   It stormed til 10 was very cold rest of day, wind I stayed at home all day no one came up we saw nobody I done the chores red the papers and warmed the house

 

MO 15  Fine but cold no storme we went to Hyram Heley visiting him and we went to Preists to some races but the trotters did not run we had supper at Hyrams got home at sunset

 

TU 16   Clowdy and south wind all day no storme I worked on the ditch all day there was F Beck and Yan and Youl, Geo Bodison, W Devy, Ed Okey, Riley and Phil The last 2 poot in ˝ day each rest hole day each.  Willard Mc worked all day we started oposite E Okeys south peace of farming land and left off at the south of his north peace

 

WE 17  It snowed some last night clowdy all day stated to rain 5 I worked on the ditch all day I was the only one on the ditch befour noon   F Beck and Youl and Yan came at 1 and worked teeme scraping where the rock quarrey road crosses the ditch.  Phill Kits came up at 3 poot in 1/3 of a day shoveling him and me and Fred finished the shoveling to south east corner at E Okeys north peace of farming land I got home at 5 1/4 it started to rain at 5 showered til bed time started to snow then

 

TH 18   It snowed and blowed all day snowed 8 inches after 8 I chored and cleaned the cow pen out some, made pig trough and covered the north pig pen to ween the little pigs in Carried water for TEAR to wash and tended VICTORIA some

 

FR 19   There was 14 inches of snow on the ground this morning I chored and cleaned the stables out and got some oaks it snowed most of last night been cold all day but no storme

 

SA 20   Fine day and clear I done the chores got redy went to Am Fork took 11 lbs butter and 3 doz eggs got 17 ˝ for butter and 12 cts for eggs.  Bot shugar 50, tea 22, rice 25, blew (blue) drillen 62 ˝ , lye 25, soap 10, yard 15, paid 15 cts Met Dave Murdock coming up to buy my beef they said they had some cows to trade for beefe I went to see their cows and hefers made them an offer and they came up to see the stears but we did not trade they said they would come up again on Monday to see if they could make a trade

 

SU 21   Fine day no strome We went to fort TEAR and Children went to meating I were trying to make a trade with Dave Murdock for some cows but never done it we had dinner at Becks

 

MO 22  Fine and clean, snow went fast I done chores hooked up and took the folks to Lewises and him and me and Our John went to Fork poot Bummer with Bell I went to see about selling a pig and my beefe stears but the butcher never came out.  I sold the pig to Bates for 6 ct per lb ˝ cash and ˝ store pay he said he would see if he could sell the beefe for me we got back to Lewises had supper got home at 6 done chores

 

TU 23   Fine day the snow is mostly gone I done the chores carried water for WIFE to make soap and docktered a calve that got bloted on Lusurn got better.  I went to the fourt and got that stear of mine from Mothers took him to Becks for them to feed withthe other one Lish Boley came to see them but he never bot them   Our John traded Old Nig to Johney Beck for his gray and 2 calves I went to Booths got some worme (worm ) medison for VICTORIA

 

WE 24  Fine day I chored around here all day made a bargin with Syl to take them willows out in the lot that I got of S Moyle he said he thought he could do it in l day I told him I would give him $1 if he done it in l day and it took longer I would give him a little more so he went to work at it this afternoon started form here at about a quarter to 2 AM quit at 5 tonight Ren Vance and another boy came up here after a letter that I took to Am Fork to post on Monday and forgot to do so

 

TH 25   Fine and clear some wind land dry I worked on the ditch all day F Beck and Yan, Riley, Walton and Lewis and W Devy. Yan and W Devy worked l horse each all day plowing and scraping we started at the top of Okeys north peice of plowed land and done the ditch to where BoxElder water used to come in the lower place.  Syl worked at cutting the Willows out of my lot today WIFE done some cooking for my birthday dinner tomorrow I got home at 5 ˝ done the chores by dusk

 

FR 26   Fine til noon clowdy after some snow Started to plow in the hollow and it was to wet so I plowed and scraped that little nole down level on north side of north peace in the hollow worked on it til noon.  Beck folks came up after dinner and stay til 5 they fetched an arm chair for me that TEAR sent to Am Fork for by them last Tuesday to surprise me it cost $2 at Chipmans they never gave me anything

Syl grubbed willows for me in the Steven Moyle lot all day some of our crowd worked onthe ditch today.

WE 31  Fine day I went to fourt got John to help me to plow Lusurn in lot 2 teemes broke my plow  Syl grubed willows and finished them today he don’t charge me for today

FR 2     It rained some last night and showers til noon I done chores shoed Trip on front feet got some wood went to the fort at 11 took the scraper to shop and plow and poot the new mold board on it and plowed some in the lot back and furring the hollow l in and grubbing some willows on the south side John Devy, D Mc Daniel planted a row of popilars out side of fence n front of their lots today John Moyle, Don Strong plowed their sidewalk today E Heley fixed his also

 

SA 3     Stormy til noon mild after I done the chores Yan Beck came over here stayed til ___because it was storming and he could not pick sage I went up in H Moyle field after the cows they run down to fourt be four I could hear them fetched them up and cut a patch of brush on the north side of Lusurn so TEAR could see Phills, went to fourt go gag of hay, Jos Beck sold calve

 

SU 4     Clowdy and cold no storme We stayed at home til 2 then went to the fourt there was no meating or school today we stayed at Becks til eve.  Conference started today at Provo lots went there today

 

MO 5   Fine day and warme.   We, TEAR and I got redy went to Provo to Conference took the teeme to Am Fork then took train to Provo and back stayed to 2 meatings, speakers was John Mickleson,

            John H Smith and 2 others that was unknown to me we got our dinner at a lunch house paid 1.50   for 2 of us paid 1.30 for the tickets to go and come,  got home at sunset.  Boys stayed at Becks

 

TU 6    Fine clear til eve, wind all day some clowds I started to plow on north peace in the hollow plowed 1 1/4 acres went to the fourt got a box of hay and the paper Borrowed E Heleys riddle to riddle my oats the Singer Agent came to see me today about paying the other 25.00 dollars that I owe them told him I would settle in side of 2 weeks as soon as I sell my beefe

 

WE 7    Clowdy all day looks like rain I plowed on north peace in hollow all day plowed 1 1/4 acres it started to rain at dusk stormed til 9 then I went to bed

 

TH 8    It was snowing this morn snowed til 1 today I done the chores poot the old white sow in to fatten Cleaned the pen out shoed Old Bell on front feet then hooked up went to the fourt after some hay.  Jim was up after the branding iron he went down with me I got the hay and come up by 5 done the chores got the cows.  Hyram Heley came up after a cow that I have lent him to milk for 3 weeks helped him to start hur aways

 

FR 9     Fine and mild I done the chores went to the fourt got Jim to help me to start to stears to Am Fork I took them to Bates and let him have them at 6 ˝ cts per lb 2/3 cash 1/3 on store.  I had to take them over to Lehi for him and they did not want them this week but I left them there I Bot of Bates tableclothe 1.25, towels 40, shugar 75, tea 20, coffee 20, sago 25, currents 25, raisins 1.20, lemon 25, cinnamon 15, peper 10, got home at 6

SU 11   Fine summery day We all went to meating Bro Wright from Ogdon took most of the time speaking of his experience on 2 missions that he has filled to Europe and spoke of his experience in Utah spoke very encouraging.  Bishop spoke a short time on Conference items we went to Becks to dinner came up at 2 to see about the stock

 

MO 12 Fine til evening rained I went to the fourt after some hay took 56 lbs of wheat to store Bot shugar 28, yeast powder 25, 5 cts marbles.  Came up at 11 ˝ had dinner took a load of muck down in the hollow and plowed the rest of the day, plowed ˝ acre it started to rain at 5 showered til 10 raining hard

Nett and Ella came up with Riley, dinner, stayed till 5 ˝ walked home Riley finished pooting his in up here

 

TU 13   Raining most of the day and last I done the chores cleaned the stables out took ˝ day went over to round mount twice to heard Chris Becks cattle went to the fourt after the bull and some flower.  Len Goodridge came up today got l lb butter 20 cts

 

WE 14  6 inches of snow 5 this morning stormy til noon I went to the fourt got a box of hay came up at 1 ˝ Lewises and Becks was up and our John and Mary and Ella and Nett and Arther (Mc Daniel) it is VICTORIAS 2nd birthday.  She got a high chair from her papa and hur Granma Beck new dress, Granma Watkins a new apron and Aunt Mary apron, Nett new apron, Clarence hair ribbon, Etta lace 2 yards, Mandya Pockett handkerchief.  We had lots of sport pulling horses hulled both of Lewises 2 of John, Bummer and EN colt, Jos Beck black and Little sorrel (red-brown)  mair, we played guates and ball and cards and jumped and ate and drank tea and coffee.  Lewises bay best.

 

TH 15   Fine but some clowds around I hooked up took 6 bu of wheat to mill and 5 lbs of butter to store Bot buttons 10, pants 22 ˝, bleached 10, and 55 cts in script got 1 dollar on stears in script Vet went with me Bot Mrs Birgess colts 2 for 30 dollars in script and cash script 25 cash 5 .  Paid 25 cts for fixing OSKERS shoes

 

FR 16   Fine but clowdy no storme Vet and Emma came up this morning he plowed 1 acre of sage for me on what Beck was to plow and clear for me in changing our lines.  We went to Lewises Birth day supper at 4 Emma went down with us, Vet finished plowing the acre Lewises had C Becks and SY Beck and wife Hyram Heley and family and us.  Lewis and me and 2 Becks went over to fort to see horse race was late but saw W Hamnet and Hosh Holeman have a fight and saw Our John and Jos Shelley run foot race, John beet him bad there was quite an excitement in town all the after noon

 

SA 17   Windy and clowdy some rain in evening I done the chores went to botom of Lusurn and burned some brush that I grubbed some time ago and some dry lusurn worked at it till noon then went to the fourt got a load of hay


 

SU 18   Windy some snow stormes some last night We all went to meating Bishop took up most of the time in speaking of fashion and gambleing and drinking cider and playing cards and so on running horses, we had dinner at Marys come up at 4 done chores by dark

 

MO 19  Fine but some clowds has appearance of rain we got redy went to Am Fork took 10 lbs of butter and 7 doz eggs to Bates got 20 cts for butter and 10 for eggs.  TEAR took the butter and eggs up Recieved $4 in cash and $15 in script of him on the stears wich makes in all $19 in store pay and 5.00 in cash that I have rec of him.  We came by the race track to see the races Renby horse was the fastest of 3 that run Tobey and Skunk and Renby Wild Jole flew the track or he would have beet anyone.  Blew Dick beet Rubey Hayse 3/4 of a mile for l horse on side he beet 145 ft , we came home and left them running

 

TU 20   Fine day clear I sowed harrowed and backed 3 ˝ acres of oats on east west in hollow.  Arther Birgess came up to work for me today and went back to get his wagon and harness I am to give hime 5.00 per month

 

WE 21  Fine day til afternoon clowdy some rain   I halled 5 loads of muck into the west side of hollow and backed ˝ acre and layered 3 ˝ acres of Arther Birgess.  Harrowed 4 acres once over with his teeme he started to work for me today.  I get the use of their teeme for feeding them.  Len Goodridge came up and bot 1 lb of butter and l gal of milk and ˝ gal the other day paid for it all 60 cts cash

 

TH 22   It stormed most of the day and some last evening I halled 1 load of muck and went to the fourt traded 3 ˝ bu of Wheat to TF Carlisle for some that was my seed with club got it cleaned on their fanning mill paid sum 15 cts and bot some mangle worsley seeds of them, paid them 10 cts.  I got paper at Mothers come up at 3 had head ache layed down

 

FR 23   Rained some last night no storme today, wind   I done the chores went over on west peace of Lusurn and Arther and RENZ picked a load of rocks off it.  I grubbed some sages in botom of Lusurn changed the box and rack on Arthers wagon I went tothe fourt and got gag of hay Bot 20 lbs of lusurn seed of Our John at 10 ct per lb paid him in Bates script I got home at 4 and was sick the rest of the day with a bad cold and head ache

 

SA 24   Stormy off and on all day I was sick with bad cold and head ache never went out to do anything all day, Arther done the chores and tended the cows

 

SU 25      Very windy day but no storme I done the chores got redy and we all went to the fourt and we all went to meating had missionaries from Provo, Young Telmage and another and Barrot and Webb, Preton Anderson and Bro Thompsonthey was up to see about J L H Thompson case as a seventy they gave him 3 months to reform in and then get baptized at that thime.  We all went to E Heleys to dinner and Mother and John, Jim and Fanney and Martha and Netta we all had supper there. I paid my yearly donation fee as a sevenity to H Moyle, paid 50

 


MO 26  Fine day I done the chores loaded 1 load of muck and lime 1 1/4 bu of wheat took the muck in the hollow 2 loads and plowed ˝ acre of the short length running east and west and picked sage off west end and burned and plowed a place for the garden harrowed it backed it and marked it.  TEAR planted 1 row of potatoes and 2 of Peas 2 of onions and letice and cabbage and carrots and ..(he didn’t finish)

 

TU 27   Clowdy and windy cold I halled 2 loads of much in the hollow and spread it.  Sowed and harrowed and backed ˝ acre and plowed ˝ acre.  Went out to E Heleys sheep camp got 2 lambs at 1 o’clock, paid 50 cts in script for them to James Heley hurder.  TEAR walked to the fourt to store this morning took 3 doz eggs at 10 bot viteral 10, thread for balance.  Me and boys tended VICTORIA down in the hollow

 

WE 28  Fine day clear I halled 2 loads of muck John came up at 10 helped me to plow all day we plowed 2 acres and sowed 1 ˝ acres and harrowed and backed it down, we worked on the north peace in the hollow that runs east and west through both peaces long length and side hill

 

TH 29   Clowdy afternoon 2 little showers I hauled 1 load of muck on the peace I am pooting wheat in, I plowed ˝ of an acre and harrowed and backed 2 acres and sowed it picked 1/4 of an acre of sage and burned it went to fourt borrowed E Heley grain riddle came up and riddled 1 ˝ bu of wheat.  John came up borrowed my buggie to go to Am Fork to see Bummer and the roan to Jacob Greenwood he got packet of tea and 50 ct in shugar of Bates on tick for us

 

FR 30   Fine but some wind I finished picking sage and pooting my wheat in the hollow took all day harrowed and layered off 3 acres went to the fourt got a gag of hay OSKER got finger hurt

SA 1     Very cold windy day no storme We got redy went to Am Fork left the boys at Becks Took 18 lbs of butter at 20 ct and 7 doz eggs at 12 it all came to 4.44 Bot shoes for RENZO 1.50, pantstuff 80, bleache 40, cambric 22, calico 25, lace 17, rope 30, cups 30, nails 10, shoe black 20, cheese sausage 25, sago 20, pepper.  We traded at Bates we came up at 3 poot water on and boiled it and killed a pig for Jacob Greenwood have to take it down to Fork tomorrow.  Yan Beck came over this way as he was going home I got him to stay and help me to kill the pig, we got done by dusk got cows and done the chores

 

SU 2     Fine day John and Jan Beck came up I cut Yans hog for him they helped me to poot the pig in the wagon and helped it to way (weigh) it weighed 165 lbs.  We all went to the fourt WIFE and Children stayed at Mothers while Joh and me took the pig down to Am Fork he took Bummer and the Johney Beck colt to let Jacob Greenwood see them as he wanted to buy a teeme but they never made any trade.  We got back at 2 I went to Seventies meating where they were trying Lewis Davis for drunkeness he pled guilty and ask for forgiveness and said he would never get drunk any more he was forgiven by the whole .  Angess Cannon preached in Alpine today as one of the under ground men spoke very well.  Thompson was drunk today he was up last Sunday for drunkeness and promiced the Seventies he would never get drucnk any more but he has soon forgot his promice

 

            MO 3      Fine til 4 had small shower of rain I sowed, cultivated and harrowed 2 acres of oats in on a peace next to the west lusurn.  I went to the fourt took the buggie to shop to have it fixed Went to Becks got my wagon and a gag of hay this was before noon

TU 4    Fine day I harrowed and layered off 2 acres of oats and sowed it in lusurn planted 3 rows of onion and 3 of beets in hill side

 

WE 5    Fine day clear but some wind I halled 9 loads of muck and spread it on long length in the hollow WIFE went to Am Fork with her folks took 7 lbs of butter 20, and 2 doz of eggs at 12 she took them to Coop Bot 10 yds of gingham at 12 ˝ and 5 yards of lace 50 at 10, bot pair of shoes 2.50 paid Bates Script, she got at Bates satchel 1.25, shugar 25, paid script for these.  I went to the fourt in the evening to a Seventies meating they were trying Jody Bateman for fighting E Nash Jr I came home befour they got through WIFE and Children stayed at C Becks til I came out

 

TH 6    Fine and very warme I halled 6 loads of muck onto the hollow and spread it double beds full

Our Jim was plowing sage for Riley and him and Arther helped me to cut potatoes 1 hour and ˝ at noon Arther Jr and Archey was picking sage

 

FR 7     Fine but windy I halled 5 loads of muck double beds and spread it Jim and Arther helped me to brand 10 calves and l colt poot brand WWand the RW on each of them

 

SA 8     Fine day but very windy I plowed ˝ an acre and planted it in potatoes in every third row and backed it down.  I have poot 21 loads of muck on the ˝ acre TEAR planted for me this afternoon

 

SU 9     Fine day clear We went to meating had myssionaried form Provo Isaic and Willcocks had a very good meating We came home to dineer Hyram Heley and family was up at 4 fetched our cow home the have had hur 1 month milking never charged him any thing for the use of hur the Black and White heifer had a calve at 9 to night

 

MO 10  Fine and clear I worked on the high Bench ditch all day teeme ˝ day on the new ditch around Levy   W Devy, Nephi and Edger worked for the Deveys   Lewis and Phil Kits worked there also F Beck, Yan and Riley, Walton, E Okey and teeme worked by Strongs.  Riley started to water today at 5 he is first ditch

 

TU 11   Fine and clear Joseph Beck worked for me today for 115 ct in script We worked at cleaning out my head ditch we plowed it out twice and scraped it once and ˝ of it again from the mt to the east side of the Lusurn patch.  I went to the fourt at 11 after Becks scraper Bot at store 1 packet tea 22 ˝ got home at 12 we done the scraping after we went to the hollow and plowed the ditch from 1 end to the other and shoveled ˝ of it out done the chores

 

WE 12  Fine day some wind I went to hollow I cleaned the ditch out til noon helped Riley to plow a new ditch for me from his head ditch to my land he had plowed my old one up plowed it with my teeme it did not need cleaning out   I tended to his waist water on my lusurn done chores

 

TH 13   Fine and clear I took a load of roton (rotten) hay and muck and rock over to my head ditch poot in some dams and got the water off Riley at 11 took it on my lusurn and watched and plowed this ditch out that I water this lusurn by house Riley helped me to scrape the rest of head ditch and upper side took 1 ˝ hours with my teeme, Becks scraper

 

FR 14   Fine clear and warm but frost last night I watered all day and fixed corell got the water on last of west peace to night of Lusurn have not started on the rest

SU 16   Fine day   We stayed home til 3 went to Mothers because Rhoda was over today , Tom Thornton was over we stayed to Mothers to supper got home at sunset

 

MO 17  I halled 2 loads of muck in the Lusurn to make dams wirh, halled 2 in to hollow on long length and tended the water on Lusurn patch by house and over on the west peace also and cleaned out some head ditch

 

TU 18   Fine and dry I watered til noon Jos Beck worked for me today for 75 cts he halled 3 loads of muck before noon we both halled after with 2 wagons 1 teeme got out 10 loads in 4 hours took it in hollow I went to fourt after WIFE and back by sunset and took Becks wagon home.  David Kelley came up after 2 stears of mine for the Coop to Fork got here at sunset.  I helped him to take the to Mireses got home at 10 we had lots of bother with them They are to pay me 27 ˝ each in cash or $30 (1/3 in store pay or 7 cts per lb 2/3 cash they have their choice

 

WE 19  Fine day I poot the water on the 2 acres of my wheat out here tended the water on Lusurn by the housr and on OSKERS.  Went to the fourt poot the water on my orchard and fixed the ditches tended it til night

 

TH 20   Fine day clear I tended to the water on Wheat and Lusurn went to the fourt borrowed our boys wagon took 2 ˝ doz eggs to store Bot lamp Chimney 12, soat 10, nutmegs and 2 pitch fork paid 90 cts cash for it got home at 10 Anderson Mc Daniel  helped me today for 80 cts.  We halled 18 loads of muck out here by the house he broke one tine out of my new fork he went to fort at noon got 1 galen of cider of Eastwood paid 30 ct for it, I paid it.

SA 22   Fine clear and very warme I went to the fourt got the buggie came up and plowed furrows through that peace in the hollow that I have mucked for potatoes and turned the water on it   We got redy  went to Am Fork took 14 lbs butter and 5 doz eggs traided at Coop got 15 for butter and 12 ˝ eggs Bot present for TEARS mother 85 and one for Christena 85 for birthday and got tea 50, shugar 50, stockins 25, script 45, meat 20 paid script for meat

 

SU 23   Some clowds look like rain I went to meating came home to dinner took TEAR and Children to hur mothers after noon stayed to supper, Strongs were there and Lewis and Christena we had a good time stayed til 7 ko’clock

 

MO 24 Fine but some clowds at night   I halled 4 loads of muck on this peace by the house and fixed up the fence on lower side of stack yard and fixed to get the water in the morning to water stuble.

TU 25   Fine day and clear warme.  I poot the water on 2 acres of stubbing by house and tended it all day Halled 3 loads of muck and done the chores.  Sent a petition to the Water Board for the water for 15 acres more land up here

 

WE 26  Fine clear very warme.  I done the chores tended the water and went to the fourt at 10 to Alvires Funeral but it did not come off til 1 we stayed at mothers til then.  I went to funeral TEAR and Children stayed at mothers, there was a very large funeral but held no cirveses (services) except on the grave yard because she was kept to long, 2 of hur sisters and 1 of her brothers was there and hur father, 1 brother in law Hoage from Salt Lake 1 sister was Hoages wife and other Caroline.  Brother Strong was speaker H Moyle dedicated grave

 

TH 27   Fine and very warme I watered wheat on side hill in hollow and stubble up here where I had peas last year Took me all day Went to Lewises to supper it was Christena birthday, she was 35 today she was born in 51.  WIFE and Children went down at noon Emma and Vet and hur fater and mother was there

TEAR gave hur cup and saucer and glass dish and 1 lb of butter, hur mother gave hur 6 yards of calico, Emma nothing, we got back at 8 took me til 11 to do the chores

 

FR 28   Fine but a few clowds all day I poot the water on the oats in the hollow and poot it on garden and finished watering stubble to plow   Plowed Rileys head ditch out for 60 yards shoveled it.  Turned the water on the west peace of lusurn tended it

 

SA 29   Fine but a few clowds I done chores milked 7 cows and took them on Mt Lewis and me took  my young stock and his 3 cows up Dry Creek I took 9 calves of mine and 3 stears 1 heifer and 2 3 year olds 13 head and 4 of CM Becks that I have been looking after for 2 months 1 of his didnt go it was up Smooth Canyon We got back at 1 I got redy I went to Am Fork took 15 lbs butter and 6 doz eggs got 12 ˝ for butter same for eggs Bot shall for WIFE 3.00 amd paid 1.40 for shoes for VICTORIA , got shugar 25, tea 25, coffee 20, drew 2.60 over what the butter and eggs came to that to aply on beefe acct

 

SU 30   Clowdy little shower at 10 morning We all went to meating Geo Clark and Bishop took all the time Bishop spoke of the peace in the Tribune about the funeral of Alvira Healey spoke of the false hoods contained in it.  Clark spoke of the promices made to the seed of Iseral and the 2 promices land and so on

SA 5     Fine til noon clowdy after I halled 4 loads of muck and spread it on potatoes ground and plowed and planted the rest of my potatoes in hollow TEAR and Hirey planted for me I gave him 12 cts for helping.  We all went to Mothers Birthday supper there was Mary, Arther, Martha and family except Eph and Riley and Jim and Fanney was there and Ann Mason and Ida Ashcraft and her brother Will Jenkins I gave Mother $1 in cash for a present I never seen any more presents that she got we had a good time

WE 9    Fine clear and very warme   I watered 2 acres here by the house with muck on and plowed some in afternoon for corn, milked 7 cows

 

TH 10   Fine some wind in evening I white washed took most of the day poot water on 3 acres of wheat and the new lusurn and on I acre to plow.  Milked 7 cows and done the chores there was a large excursion up school house by the Sunday School the whole town went up 19\8 or 19 wagons they had a dance after coming home

 

FR 11   Fine and clear I tended to water and chored til noon then went up and helped to fix the ditch after noon   There was me mine teeme, Ed Okey and teeme, W Devy and ˝ teeme F Beck ˝ teeme, Riley, Lewis and Walton and me and teeme, the men with Teemes got 1 day the others ˝ each

SU 13   Fine day I done the chores hooked up and we all went to meating Br Strong read a short peace from the First Presidency of the church about breaking the sabbath and other points of doctering Br Samuel Bateman spoke ˝ hour on his experience while he had been on the unground track.  Osker Vance read a letter from angus Vance we went to Becks to dinner an to Mothers to supper stayed to night meating

James Nealson and me were the speakers I spoke about 15 minutes, James Nealson spoke about 5 we got home at 10 1/4

 

MO 14  Fine til 5 then had a nice shower I and Jos Beck plowed 2 acres for me today and backed it down got done by 4 I went to fourt and took my white calve to see if it would suck John Becks becasue her calve died last Saturday.  I bot 1/4 go mutton of Jodey Bateman for 75 cts have not pd got a load of hay got home at dursk done chores milked 7 cows I had old man Scot working for me this four noon spreading muck paid him 50 cts for it on Coop I have to help Jos Beck to plow next week for him

 

TU 15   Fine day clear but cool I done the chores cleaned the Spring out and cleaned my head ditch out for 40 yards on west end and poot the water on my lusurn then hooked up teeme went to fourt after Mother for TEARS birthday supper got back at 2 TEARS folks and Lewises came up at 3 we had supper at 5 they stayed til dusk. Mother went home with Becks we had a good supper at 5 ˝ I gave hur a rocking chair cost 1.75 hur mother gave hur a breast pin cos t 75 Christena an apron cost 25 mother an apron 20

           

WE 16  Fine I planted 2 acres of corn by house and tended to the water on lusurn an on the grain in hollow

 

TH 17   Fine and warme I done the chores then Jos beck and me took 4 of my cows and 1 of his up Dry Creek to the old bridge and found 1 of my yearling stears dead the one that I got of Jos Beck for $9 last winter, got back at noon tended to the water on oats and lusurn and turned water off West end of oats and wheat planted 6 rows of corn by the house.  Lewis got my white cow tonight to milk for a while he is to pay me for the use of hur til I want hur

 

FR 18   Fine and clear I done the chores plowed 3/4 of an acre and lent Lewis 7 bu of wheat til harvest for 1 pk on the bushel, sold him 1 bu of potatoes for 35 cts got redy and Jos Beck and me and Our Jim started a fishing at 4 o’oclock took 1 of Jos horses and 1 of Jims and my wagon harness, we got to Provo river at 10 caught 40 fish before we went to bed.  We got a galon of cider at Ch Wests 1 paid 3 cts and Jos paid 15 for it bot hooks 10 cts

 

SA 19   Fine and clear I got up at 3 ˝ went to fishing we fished til 11 then loaded the fish in the wagon and had dinner, started home at 1 we got 270 fish for the 3 of us.  Joseph Beck and Our Jim was with me we got here at sunset cleaned fish by 10 went to bed at 11

 

SU 20   Fine and clear We stayed at home all day.  Riley, Martha and David Hamnet and wife came up at 6 stayed for a few minits

 

MO 21  Fine and clear   I went to the fourt took WIFE and Children and plowed for Becks all day to pay for Jos helping me last week picked what cherries was left in my lost this evening

 

TU 22   Helped Jim to fix mower and poot in gear wheel and tinkered with it all day

 

WE 23  Fine I went to the fourt got mower and cut Becks Lusurn by the house 2 acres

 

TH 24   Fine but some clowds after noon   I went to the fourt at 7 cut that peace of clover at the point of the hill of Becks and raked that by the house and that at point of hill also.   Came up and furrowed 12 rows of potatoes out in hollow and went back at 5 got the mower and groung knife fetched the machine up with me and cut 2 rounds on OSKERS lusurn done the chores.  I paid Hyram Heley 1.00 in cash on tabernacle donation, paid Jos Batemans wife 75 for mutton today

 

FR 25   Fine day clear til 4 had a shower ˝ an hr.  I cut OSKERS lusurn and 8 rounds on 3 acres on west peace and cut 1 ˝ acres for Riley and raked all of mine, done chores

 

SA 26   Fine very warme I cut 2 acres of lusurn and raked it and me and Jos Beck poot 4 acres up and done the chores and layered over 3 hours at noon

 

SU 27   Fine day clear and very warme I stayed at home til 3 then we went to the fourt and stayed at Mothers til 7 Bot 2 qts of strawberries of TF Carlisle for our supper at Mothers they went very well got home at 7 ˝ 

 

MO 28  Fine and warme I cut 4 ˝ acres of lusurn befour noon on west peace and raked and poot it up after noon poot it up with rake.  Done chores W Nash got the Devil in him this after noon and was going to shoot every body

 

TU 29   I finished pooting up my hay that I cut yesterday this four noon went to the new field at noon to cut Becks lusurn but it was cut when I got there Came up went to Am Fork started at 4 took 16 doz eggs at 12 ˝ and 7 lbs of butter at 15 Bot factery 3.00, bleached 1.00, caten flanel 1.00, tea 25, thread 10, gingham 70 paid script 1.00 had 2.50 charged of on book.  It was the old peoples Jubelee today I got home at dusk done chores

 

WE 30 Fine day clear _______1 ˝ acres of lusurn got wagon and rack redy and John came up at 10 helped me to hall 7 loads of Lusurn 4 off OSKERS and 3 off west peace   I went to the fourt with John

at 5 ˝ to get help for tomorrow got Scot and Lewis and Jos Beck.  Jo and Lewis could not come til noon got back at dusk Tommy Price came here to stay with us awhile (age 7)

TH 1    Fine day clear   Scot and me halled 4 loads of hay before noon.  Jos Beck and Lewis came at 11 halled 1 load before noon and we all halled 9 loads after noon.

 

FR 2     Fine but some wind afternoon Jos Beck and Lewis came up at 9 this morning and Jim and John came at 11 Lewis went home at 1   We only halled 11 loads in all day but poot it on top of the stack  Jos Beck used his teeme 1 day ˝ yesterday and ˝ today Boys used their teeme ˝ day the same as they worked themselves.  Lewis poot in 1 day ˝ yesterday and ˝ today we finished halling 2 peaces OSKERS on the west peace had 32 gags on them

 

SA 3     Windy but clear  I went to the fourt helped Jos Beck to hall 4 loads of hay from his new west field   We had 2 teemes it was very windy after noon so we could not load.  We got it all but 5 or 6 hundred lbs, Thomas Price helped us

 

SU 4     Fine but windy after noon   We stayed at home til 2 went to the fourt stayed at Becks to supper came up at sunset, chored

 

MO 5   Fine and clear I helped the boys to hall hay 5 of us halled 10 loads and turned it over before halling it there was Jos Beck ˝ day worked for me and Scot for them it worked my teeme all day

 

TU 6    Fine but clowdy before noon little shower   I helped boys to hall hay all day we halled 10 loads 4 of us.   I worked my teeme all day we halled all the first peace by Batemans   I got home at 4 tended to the water on west peace of Lusurn and oats in hollow and the wheat.  I got the water yesterday morning they had 17 loads on the 5 next to Batemans and 5 loads on the 3 acre by the creek we took 4 loads to Jims

 

WE 7    Fine day clean very windy last   I watered all day had water on 5 places poot the pigs up today for the first this summer, made a pen for them and done the chores

 

TH 8    Fine day and very warme I took TEAR and Children to the fourt got mower and ground knife

Came up cut this peace of Lusurn by the house took all day to cut it.  I went to the fourt after the folks at 7 got back at 8

 

FR 9     Fine and very warme and windy after noon   I raked this peace of hay by the house and poot up and tended to some water on side hill wheat.   Done chores went to the fourt poot water on orchard got Jim and Jos Beck to come up tomorrow to help me to top my stack and got home at 8, chored

 

SA 10   Fine but some wind after noon I went over to willow canyon got 40 hangers for my hat stack Jim and Jos Beck came up at 2 he helped me to hall 4 loads of hay and poot it on top of the stack and poot the hangers on finished it up good shape it took til dark to finish it, they poot in ˝ day each

 

SU 11   Fine and very warme Tommy and me went to meating I came up to dinner   Bishop and Strong took up the time speaking of chasity and the council at the late conference

 

MO 12  Fine clear and warme Me and Tommy halled 3 loads of lusurn here and took l to the fourt for tithing it weighted 1500 lbs TEAR went to the fourt and picked hur red currents in the Lot I took hur down at 10 this morning

 

TU 13   Fine but some wind at 2 I halled 1 load of hay and tended to Rileys waste water on my wheat and Lusurn and got some of Yan this morning to water my Lusurn by house the ˝ of our water out of our ditch at 5 this morning, all the water masters was up seen to it.   We all went to our Jims birthday supper at 5 there was Mother and John, Rhoda and Mary Brown from Draper and

 

 

            Len Ashcraft and wife Will Jenkins and Mary and Ephraim Heley and Martha and Family and

 the Nelsons and Deveys.  Will and family and the Old man and family and David Hamnet and family and Lyll and Lorrey Winn had a good time

 

WE 14  Fine and excessive hot I got the water last night at 11 ˝ and have tending to it all day and furrowed my potatoes out and watered them this after noon.    We only have the water 1 hour to the acred this time

 

TH 15   Fine and very warme I tended to the water til 9 then went to the fourt to see if Len Ashcraft

and the folks was coming up here today, they were at Jims place they came up at 2 ˝ stayed til 6 then started for home Jim and Fanney was up with them they had supper here they done well had a good time

 

FR 16   Very warm and clear   I went up Dry Creek and poot my stock over the upper wash in dry creek   Jim and Jos Beck and Henry Brown went up with me Jim took 1 cow and white bull up

 

SA 17   Fine clear and very warm tommey Price and me halled 3 loads of hay for W Nash for 50 cts per load and had all the cider we wanted and Tom got drunk and I had to leave him in Wortheys charge he agreeing to take him to mothers tonight

 

SU 18   Fine day clear   I stayed at home til evening went to the fourt to see about tommey I learned

t           hat Worthy had not done as he agreed to and let Lee Clark take him home with him.  I turned the water on the orchard came up done the chroes.  The reason I did not go to meating was because I had no boots.  Done my chores went to bed

 

MO 19  Fine day and clear AM I went up to Lee Clarks to see about Tommy Lee said I should not take him except he wanted to go and he didnt want to come with me so I left him there.   I went to Fork after noon took 6 bu of wheat to the mill Bot at Coop store Boots 2.50 and shoes for REN 1.00, shirting 60, factery 50, calico 45, coton batting 20, shugar 25, stockings 25 paid cash for the whole I drew $42.50 in cash for fourty two and half dollars on the stears that I let him have in May But I owe him $18.50 on the store yet but he his to take a beefe of me in 1 month at 6 ˝ to pay it

 

TU 20   Fine clear and warme I done chores Jos Beck came.  Edger Wright came up and took a job of cutting the oats and sage brush out of all that peace at the botom of this peace of lusurn in front of the house that we call OSKERS down in to the hollow and to the road on the north including the patch of oaks on side hill across the left, he is to do it all for 1 pig 5 months old and $1 in cash today I worked on head ditch and made pig pen got the water to -----------page copy  folded over

 

WE 21  Fine and clear I was up at 4 tending to my water and tended to it all day went to the fourt Bot ˝ gal of coal oil got back at 2 Jos Beck came up this morning Borrowed 2 sacks of wheat of me 260 lbs E I went to the fourt at 7 took the folks with me.   I was summonesed (summoned)to apeer (appear) before H Moyle, J Devy for drink 2 glasses of cider and for letting Tommey Price fall into the hands of Lee Clark they decided that I was not guilty of complaints and let off

 

TH 22   Fine clear til eve some clowds   I gave the water to W Devy at 7 this morn   Edd Wright started

 

 

to grub for me, poot in ˝ day I chored and pooled some weeds out to potatoes and made a trough for little pigs

 

FR 23   Fine clear some rain at even and some little showers during the night   I done the chores went to the fourt and Bot at store 1 snap 15, bar of soap 10, oil for machine 10, paid cash of the above fetched 16 poles up from my lot with me done the chores fixed trough for cows

 

SA 24   Clowdy some showers ____I went to Jody Batemans Bot 1 qr of mutton paid him 75 cts for it in cash came back had breakfast we all got redy went to the fourt to the Celebration.  The cirveses took place in the meating house at 10 there were speakers, resitations, songs and so on.  After noon they assembled in the Bishops Orchard had foot races games of all kinds and songs an so on, they had a dance at evening for adults it was all good

WE 28  Fine day I poot up part of OSKERS lusurn went to fourt and started with the water on lot til 2 making ditches to the trees and picked 3 bu of apples then went to Becks and finished cutting his lusurn by the house and raked it, got home at sunset done chores

 

TH 29   Fine clean    I finished pooting OSKERS lusurn up and then got redy went to Fork Took 6 bu of apples with me to have cider made took them to Syrus Goffs he had not started to make said I could get it tomorrow or next day went to Coop got pair of shoes fixed for TEAR ˝ sole paid him 50 Bot at Coop Shugar 25 lbs for 2.00 cash and flanel 1.20, factery 25, Tea and Coffee 45, Sago 25 harness oil25, file for Edd 40, Shrrop 75, Dress for VICT 50, yarn 20, cheese 10, haid chipman 25 for landside.  Paid H Moyle and Walton for cutting Wheat 3.00 paid cash for all of the above articles got home at dusk

 

FR 30   Fine and clear   I halled 2 loads of hay went to fourt took 2 ˝ doz eggs to store got coffee pot 40, eggs at 15 Bot 6 pigs of David Hamnet for 8.00 5.2 months old sow paid cash Bot 1 of Riley 3 months old 1.25 cash.   Our Jim sold Kate and Bummer for 175 one hundred and seventy five dollors

 

SA 31   Fine day I halled 2 loads of hay, shoed old Trip and got redy went to Am Fork after cider

Took 8 lbs of butter to Coop got 22 ˝ per lbs   Bot overhalls 85, comb 10, thread 10, ink 10, blewing 10, neadles 15, bucket 20, lye 25, got cider from Syrus Goffs my apples made 15 gal to my share and he lent me a galen to fill the barrell which I have to pay back to him.  Boys went with me REN and OSKER got back at dusk

TU 3    Fine day clear and warme, I cut 3 ˝ acres of lusurn and raked it and chored and went to the fourt after the hay rack and after Mrs Beck fetche d 1 bu of apples up, edger worked for me this afternoon pooting up hay poot up 1 ˝ acres on what he owes me.  TEAR and hur mother quilted a quilt today

 

WE 4    Fine day and clear I cut 3 ˝ acres of lusurn on west peace and raked it and poot up some.  Edd poot up lusurn all day for me and Beck helped this afternoon to pay me for yesterday.  Riley Sarahann was up today

 

TH 5    Fine and clear I cut this lusurn by the house 2 acres and raked it, went to the fourt took TEAR and Children to lot, picked up 4 bu of apples and TEAR picked currents all the time.   Went over to Mothers got a little jar of honey, we went to store to buy some baken or chees but they never had neither we came up at 1.  I turned some hay over and poot up some

 

FR 6     Fine but looks like a storme Jos Beck and me halled 6 loads of hay and I went to fourt at 12 ˝ after some girls to help TEAR quilt.  Made a few bids on a mule at stray pen sale at John Moyles, I bid 12.00 on him.  Lee Clark bot him for 12.50 I came up at 2 Jos Beck and me halled hay til sunset.  I took the quilters home, Fanney and Nett and Hannah Devey.  Christena had baby at 4 this morning

SA 7     Rained til 1 o’clock today it rained some during the night but rained stedy from 6 this morning til 1 tody I halled 1 load of hay for to go in the center of stack to keep it form getting wet but it is getting wet now.  I made a shed infront of the door and done the chores

 

SU 8     Fine and clear I went to meating got up made statement of the afair that took place at W Nashes some 3 weeks ago but I did not satisfy the Bishop he wanted me to ask forgiveness but I didnot think I had done anything wrong so I resisted he got very mad at me and I got mad.  Nelsons was up here this afternoon all of them

 

MO 9   Fine and warme   We went to the fourt got some apples and took them to Lewises for children seen the baby, I helped TEAR to wash 4 quilts afternoon

 

 

TU 10   Fine but some clowds I halled some straw out of stack yard before noon and poot it on the shed, went to the fourt after to help Jos Beck to plow but he had gone to canyon so I went to Am Fork Bot at Coop lumber 60, bacon 55 had it charged on acct got home at dusk fetched Edgers grist up with me done the chores

 

WE 11  It was fine but looks like storme Jos Beck helped me to hall hay all day we halled 7 loads from west peace.  I sold Jos my jumper for 60 ct

 

TH 12   Clowdy til 10 rained hard 2 hours Jim and Jos Beck helped me to hall hay til noon or 11 ˝ we halled 3 loads and pot it o op of stack it rained hard 2 hours I went to fourt got Jim to go up on the Box Elder Slide to pile drift wood we worked at it 3 hors piled 2 or 3 loads and got 1 saw log that will make 2 hundred ft and worked about an hour on that would make 4 hundren never got it out

 

FR 13   Fine day I went up on slide got 2 loads of drift wood and got that big log out of slide that we started to get last night go Sam Strong to help me ˝ day got 12 or 13 shed posts in the 2 loads got home at 5

 

SA 14   Fine and warm.  I halled l load of hay then went to the fourt to get some one to come and hlep me to hall hay this afternoon got Jos Beck to come up I got back at 12 ˝ Jos B and me halled 3 loas from the west peace and unloaded 4 on top of stack

 

SU 15   Fine till noon clowdy after some rain We stayed at home til 2 then went to Nealsons stayed there til sunset had supper there was young Nealsons and Jim and Fanney and TEARS father and mother entered a complaint to teachers about Bishop abusing me in meating

MO 16  Fine til noon very windy after Jos Beck came up and helped me this for noon to hall hay we halled 2 loads and poot them on top of my stack and loaded l to take for tithing.  Jos went to fourt with me at 2 my load weighed 2350 lbs   Scot helped me to unload so did Bishop I went to Rileys got some cider got a sack full of apples at lot went to see H Moyle about cutting my oats and wheat it hollow, Mary said he was coming tomorrow came up at 4 done chores

 

TU 17   Clowdy but no rain but close I helped H Moyle and Walton to fix their binder stayed with them all day, they kept having bother all day they only cut the oats in all day I went to Rileys got a coffee pot full of cider for them I stacked up ˝ of the oats and done the chores

 

WE 18  Clowdy rainy not hard   I done the chores went in the hollow and helped H Moyle and Walton to start cutting my wheat   I pulled sunflowers out of the wheat an hour came up and went to the fourt   Bot packet of tea 22 ˝ and base of blewing 2 ˝ paid cash.  Came up and took some lunch down in the hollow to H Moyle and Walton they got done at 1 ˝ cut 2 ˝ acres of wheat and 3 ˝ of oats at 1.30 per acre.   Ammt 7.80 have not paid them yet.   RENZO and me halled 2 loads of hay after 2 Jos Beck had Trip to work on self binder today left us their little mair to work with Bell

 


TH 19   Very heavy rain at 1 for 1 hour   I stacked up 2 acres of oats this four noon it rained at 1 we went to the fourt at 3 stayed til sunset.  I was hunting up parties as witenesees (witnesses) in my case against the Bishop and Devey and so on

FR 20   Fine and clear   I sacked up 2 ˝ acres of wheat 94 shocks We went to the fourt picked up 11 bu of apples I took them to Fork to Goffers took 2 sacks of wheat to mill got home at dusk done chores

 

SA 21   Fine day I cut 2 acres of lusurn and oats seed lusurn with the mower before noon got redy took the folkd to fork I wnt to the Fork after my cider got back in time for the concert of the young peoples association the beginning of their conference it was very entertaining consisting of songs resitation and centiments and speakers and dewetts ( duet) and instrumental music We came home after it closed, done the chores

 

SU 22   Fine and agreeable    We got up done the chores went to Conference in Alpine City the first that has ever been here.  There were present on the stand Benjamin Cluff, George Brimhall and Bro Bager as presiding Officers of the Young Mens Association and Mrs Jenny Tanner and Council of the First Presidency of the Young Ladies Associations of this county.  The reports of the different associations were given Br Bager took the remainer of the time in speaking on the Law of Celestial Marriage.  I came home to dinner hooked up took the folks to the fourt after noon.  I went to the Conference again the remainder of the reports were given which spoke very well of the young of this County the speakers were Mrs Jenny Tanner and of her council TS Mc colough, Lyeo Brimhall and Beni Cluff they all spoke with very much life and staining after the meating I poot the water on my lot we went to Becks to dinner or supper got home at dusk done chores

 

MO 23  Fine but some few clowds I chored til 9 went to fourt tended to the water on lot til noon come up halled 1 load of hay chored til night

 

TU 24   Fine day I took the folks to fourt I took 11 bu of apples to Fork got barrel of W Nash of mine Riley Jos Beck went to Riley took 5 bu to Fork also Bot 25 lbs sugar at Coop

 

WE 25  Very fine day little shower at eve I chored til 10 went to the fourt got packet tea 25, cinnamon 10, bolts 5, paid cash.  Came up started to poot an adition to my correll to stack my wheat in poot in 2 posts in and poot up 2 panels of fence, done the chores

 

TH 26   Fine day clear   I went to the fourt after Sister Scot to wash for us.   Came up cut wood and packed water to wash and stuck Lineys white calve because it was foundering   Old Spot was foundered also put a gag in hur mouth she got better soon.  I went to the fourt packed up 4 bu of apples took them to Fork to cider mill tool 3 lbs butter at Coop Bot Muske to Bar 25, soda 10, paid 2.50 for shugar and other stuff that I got the day before yesterday I got my barrell of cider that I took down Tuesday he said it held 50 galens   I owe him 5 bu on it yet I got home at 5 David Hamnet cut ˝ acre of Wheat for me today I paid him 75 cts for it paid Mrs Scot 50 ct for Washing today.  Dave had his family up.

 

FR 27   Fine and clear   I done the chores Hyram Healey came up to see me about the afair between me and Bishop said the Bishop was anxious to have it fixed up thought it would do.  On Monday evening next if we could get the witness I went down to Nealsons with him to borrow a hand rake

of Jim halled a load of hay for Edger after noon he had been gleaning up here got Beck, done chores

 

SA 28   Fine clear I went to the hollow and raked and bound that ˝ acre of wheat that David Hamnet cut on Thursday.  Had to rake bands for it,  done the chores got some brush for Shamtz

 

SU 29   Fine and clear I went to meating V Holoday and Jacob Gates and Vacter Rigs took all the time.  Came home to dinner Nett was up all day Syl got cider 2 gal Stayed home rest of the day

 

MO 30  Clowdy but mild I went to new field cut 2 acres of lusurn for Jos Beck went at 10 got back at 5 Ground knife at S Moyles, Syl got 2 gal of cider here on what I own him 75 ct

TU 1    Clowdy til 4 then started to rain at 9 raining yet I done the chores hooked up teeme took 85 lbs of Wheat to store at 1 ct lb Bot yarn 20, bolts 20, buttons 10, cinnamon 10, paid 25 I owed.  Got 3 bu of apples from lot got home at 2 worked on lower corell RENZO yearling got foundered had to stick Him

Hyram Heley came up to tell me that the trial between Bishop and me would not come off tonight on acount of J Devy gone to town (SLC)

 

WE 2    Rainey most of day and last night I poot up some of my seed lusurn, cleaned chicken coop out and white washed it and stable also and killed a pig that would weight 40 lbs an April pig of the black sow turned the water on this lusurn by house

 

TH 3    Fine but cool til noon I done the chores got redy went to the fourt took 1 ˝ doz of eggs to the store at 12 ˝ and bot nails 25, ginger 10, pepper 10, lastick (elastic) 5 paid cash for balance.  Paid H Moyle 1.50 in cash for cutting grain owe him 3.25 yet on it.  He came up to notify me that I was wanted at the meating house at 1 to answer to a charge of profanity entered by E Okey and Theadore Bateman.  I told him I would be there at that time.  I went an proved myself inocent of the charge came up at 4 done the chores and poot up some lusurn seen and oats

 

FR 4     Fine day I recieved notice that the teachers had notified the Bishop to apear at H Moyles this evening to answer the charge of lying about me on the public stand to be heard by Hyram Heley and James Nealson.  I told him that I would be there with witnesses.  I went and proved him to be the lyer and the teachers rendered their decision that he should make a stateman of the afair to the publick (public) and state that he was mistaken but he objected to it and wouldnt comply with their decision and wanted to justify himself

 

SA 5     Fine day I done the chores John came up told me how the trial came out last night he said the Bishop said he would not abide the decision it was agreed that I should fix it with the Bishop and Strong but I dont see it that way (his hand writing in this entry shows his feelings) I think the teachers has purfect wright to settle all difficulties between Bishop and other men as well as other.  John stayed til 2 I hooked up went to the fourt with him took ˝ bu of potatoes to mother

 

 

SU 6     I done the chores stayed at home til 5 went to the fourt turned the water on my trees got back at dusk done the chores

 

MO 7   Fine day I gess I worked at fixing the lower corell up to poot grain in and chored around all day til eve.  My WIFE took sick this evening I went after Sister Devy at 10 ˝ she was sick all night

 

TU 8    Fine day Wife was sick all day but not bad.  We had a boy born at 20 min after 11 to night she had a very hard time but gave birth to a very fine boy, weighted 10 lbs

FR 11   Fine day clear I and Jim halled the rest of my Wheat and Jim went to Fork after Alice at dusk for to see TEAR

 

SA 12   Fine and clear Jim and me halled 1 load of Lusurn seed and oats   Jim never came til 10 ˝ because he had to take Alice Steal home after 12 last night from here he fetched hur up last evening she got here at 10 to see TEAR.  I tended to the CHILDREN and helped to wait on TEAR til noon.  I hooked up went to Fork after 2 to get a surrenge and to see Alice about TEAR she told me what to do.  I got home at sunset then went to the fourt after the Elders to come and Administer to my wife.  Fetched up James Heley A Marsh and Our Jim they stayed about 1 hour and she felt much better than when they came

 

SU 13   Fine and clear I stayed at home all day and tended to TEAR giving her medisen Ella Heley came up stayed an hor or 2 Nett came up to stay 2 weeks came at 7 this morning Alice came up and seen TEAR left medison gave instructions.  Ezekiel and Rhoda came over and stayed here to supper.  Mary and Marthy and Fanney ca,e ip stayed til night, TEAR was feeling very poorly all day

 

MO 14 Fine and warme I done the chores Jim came up and helped me to hall 3 loads of oats he had to quit t 1 to go to the funeral of W Devy child Sarah Ann 20 months old I went to the fourt to get some quinine of R T Booth and to get some things from store got back at 4 done chores

 

TU 15   Clear and Warme Jim came up helped me to hall l load of oats an unload another he took my teeme to the fourt and started to cut his lusurn he cut his lusurn he cut all afternoon some in east and south field I went to Booths after some more quinine got 25 ct worth and some baledona for TEARS breasts got home at 4 done chores

 

WE 16  Fine I helped Jim all day to cut and poot up lusurn cut with my teeme TEAR is very much better

 

TH 17   Fine day clear I helped Jim to cut and pot up lusurn all day we used my teeme we got through cutting his lusurn tonight   TEAR is improving all the time the child is doing well

FR 18   Fine and clear I helped Jim all day with teeme we raked 3 acres and poot it up in the four noon and halled hay after noon, done chores

SU 20   Fine day very warme I stayed at home all day and waited on TEAR, Nett went to the fourt and never came back today There was a general straitening up took place today they had John Moyle up asking forgiveness today and Richard Smith him for adultry, John for drunkness and H Davises wife for Adultry with R Smith and cut Johney Beck off the Church for adultry

 

MO 21  Helped Jim and John to; 3 to hall hay with my teeme I picked up 20 bu of apples but Jim helped me after 5 got home at sunset done chores

 

TU 22   Fine and clear Took 35 bu apples I poot up 4 bu of Wheat and went to lot and picked up 15 bu of apples and went to Fork got cider made, out of apples got it made at Goffs got at Coop Shugar 2.00, rope 75, tea 25, mutton 50, got home at 8 doen chores went to bed

 

WE 23  Fine and clear I lost my horses and had to hunt for them til noon nearly I Bot at store 2 lbs of nails 15, clover 10 paid cash for them all Jim came up with me helped me to poot 2 barrells of cider in the celler or spring we hooked Chuck and Tops up and took Becks wagon home and Jims grist F Strong fetched my horses down out of their field at 11.  I came up worked at fixing stack ward up so pigs cant get in

 

TH 24   Fine but a few clowds scattered I fixed up my stack yard til 2 Beck came up to see if I could cut his lusurn for him so I hooked up and went down and cut 3 peaces by the house for him after 5 o’clock started on Nealsons lot went 1 round

 

FR 25   Fine clear I fixed the stack yard so the pigs cannot get in took til 2 I went to the fourt early this morning and cut Nealsons lot for Bro Beck and got 3 bu of apples out of lot fetched them up today   I cut 1load of corn and halled it this morning done the chores lent Beck 40 lbs of flower. 

 

SA 26   I cut corn til 11 alone Jim came up then and helped me the rest of the day John came up at 4 helped us to hall 1 load and cut it we cut and halled 3 1 day credit for what Both of them done got done ˝ hour before sunset, they stayed to supper

 

SU 27   Fine but cool this morning I stayed at home all day with TEAR and Nett went home

 

MO 28  Fine and clear   I done the chores cut 3 rows of corn and went to the fourt took 10 eggs to store got 5 boxes of matches went to Mothers changed 2 quaking ash poles for 2 red pine poles and got 2 sacks of apples from the lot got 6 poles from the lot fetched them home had Tops and Trip got up at 1 cut 10 rows if corn halled 13 rows at 1 load big load

           

TU 29   Fine and clear I done the chores unloaded 1 load of corn went to fourt got mower and a sack of apples came up cut some of this peace by the house or all of it that was big enough

 

WE 30  Fine and clear I worked at the shed pooting in posts and digging the holes and charring them   I went to the fourt to get some shed sticks for my shed got 3 out of the fence behind Jos Batemans corell and poot others in their places got 1 of our Jim

 

TH 31   Fine and clear I worked on the shed all day pooting in post and pooting the poles on and digging holes

FR 1        Fine and clear part of day clowdy some    Jim and me went up in first hamon gog (First Hammengog) went and got 24 poles for my shed got some that Jim cut 6 or 7 weeks ago and 11 that Jos Beck cut at that time took Bill and Trip got home at 2 worked on the shed the rest of the day til dusk then killed a pig that weighed 50 lbs for the threshers tomorrow got it done at 4

 

SA 2     Fine day Jim and me and Scot worked at my shed til noon and got it finished but the threashers came at 11 and sat, got it done by sunset had 91 of W

 

SU 3     Fine and clear We stayed at home all day and waited on TEAR she has not been to the fourt as yet she is not very strong yet Jos Beck and W Booth was up this morning

 

MO 4   Fine and clear   I went to the fourt and helped Jos Beck to thresh they had 56 of wheat and 74 of oats came up at 12 went back at 2 to a trial of John Maine and Lee Clark and other on both sides there was John E Booth for John Maine, George Mc, W Dundsdon and young Ben Drigs and Hunter for Lee Clark and W Bennett the suit was about a mine on Wadsworth it was claimed that Alpine Court had no jurisdiction in the cace (case) and thrown out on that ground

 

TU 5    Fine til eve clowdy then I went to the fourt and helped our boys to thresh we threshed their lusutn last night thay had 112 bu of oats and 68 bu of wheat they got done by 11 I halled 1 gag of shody hay of this peace by the house Old Liney came home from canyon at 3 this morning

 

WE 6    There was a little shower today fine by night    I done the chores cleaned the potato celler out for the apples we went to the fourt at 3 OSKER and me picked 7 bu of apples fetched them home and poot them in cellar done chores.  Old Liney had a red bull calve this morning

 

TH 7    Fine but heavy frost last night I chored around til 10 poot 1 sack of wheat and 1 of oats took them to store paid 1.70 that I owed and bot soap 25, olive oil 15, horse nails 10, candy 10, picked 10 bu of apples in lot fetched them up with me John came up got the hay rake I went down at 4 and got 6 bu of apples got home at dusk done chores

 

FR 8     Fine but windy I went to the lot at 9 am picked 11 bu of apples 8 bu was them large red and striped 3 bu was red Pairmains that makes 26 bu of the red parmains I stayed at the lot til 3 I went to store took 3 doz eggs to store Bot 3/4 yd of flannel 30, and pac tea 22

 

SA 9     Windy and clowdy I went to the Lot sold Lewis 10 bu for 3.00 some tht was on the ground helped him to pick and load them then picked 13 bu of cluster apples and fetched them home got home at 5 done chores

 

SU 10   It rained some this morning at 10 I went to meating we had 2 muysionaries form Lehi old man Cooks and another man came home to dinner stayed at home the rest of day John Mac and me and Our John came up and stayed til 5

MO 11  Shower and rained most of afternoon I went to the lot and picked up 35 bu of apples and loaded them in wagon 25 for cider and 10 to sell   It snowed 1 ˝ feet in the heat of dry creek and came to the valley.  Sorrey came down to day

 


 

TU 12   Fine most of the day I went to Am Fork took 35 bu of apples sold 10 to Snow for 50 cts per bu and took 25 to Goffs for icder took 6 lbs of butter to Coop at 17 ˝ Bot shoes for VICTORIA 1.00, shugar 1.00, milk pans and strainer 1.00 glass lites got ribbon 20, and script 2.60 wire 20, we got home at 5 done chores

 

WE 13  Fine day I went to the fourt picked 6 1/4 bu of apples and took them to the tithing office

Bishop rec them.   Picked 8 more fetched them home they were all Rhode Island Greenings made arrangement to go up Dry Creek Canyon tomorrow after stock I have 9 head there yet Willard Mc ( Mc Daniel) going with me after this.  Mrs Nealson died today at 11 o’clock

TH 14   Fine but cold Willard Mc and I went up Dry Creek Canyon after stock I found all of mine and got them down to the falls and some to the botom of Birch Hill we got benighter and had to leave them We also got 6 chickens 3 each got home at 7 ˝

 

FR 15   Fine day I went to the fourt took Mrs Loveridge home she was up here washing yesterday and stayed all night because I got home to late to take hur home last night.  Hunted through the fields to see if any of my stock had come out but found none came out But found none   Came up at 12 went back at 1 ˝ to Mrs Nelsons funeral which took place at 2 the Speakers were David Adams and John Devey there were a good turn out of relatives and friends

                                   

SA 16   I went up Dry Creek Canyon after my stock again there was Jed and Youl Beck,  James Vance and me I got all of mine out

 

SU 17   Stayed at home all day because it was windy and TEAR did not like to take babe out she has not been to the fourt yet.  Jos Beck came up at 3

 

MO 18  Clowdy started to rain at 3 rained til 9 I done the chores poot blabs and musle on two calves.  Len Goodridge came up to work for me to pay for that 6 bu of wheat that they borrowed of me last fall.  I am to give him 30 cts per day and board him and me went to the lot and picked 8 bu of apples and fetched them up poot them in celler.  These are the last on the trees my pigs was down to Geo Mc Daniels I set Dick (dog)on them he hurt 1 of them so I had to kill it down there fetched it home and poot some water on and slaudered it.  Len Goodridge poot in a full day for me today

 

TU 19   It was snowing at 6, 3 inches on the ground and still snowing at 9 I went to the store took 50 lbs of oats to store Bot shugar 75, coal oil 25, nails 15, took the pigs head to Scots to pay for

 

washing charged them 35 cts got 1 pk of tomatoes of Becks, Len stayed there today for his board and could not work

 

WE 20  Fine day but cold   Len and me went to the lot and picked up 5 bu of good apples and 8 bu of cider apples I took them to Fork sold the 5 to Bates for 50 per bu took the 8 to cider mill and took 4 lbs of butter to Bates at 20 cts per lb   Bot tea 25, mustard 10, pepper 10, vinnager 25, onions 10, got 2.40 in script never got my cider

 

 

TH 21   Rained most of the nite and most of today I done the chores went to the fourt after the bull for RENZOS cow sent word for Goff to order me a barel to poot my cider in..  Riley went down Jos Beck came up at 10 stayed til 2   I hooked up and went to the fourt after a calve that J Nealson sent me for $5.00 on the use of the cow Jos Beck fetched it from town last night for me.  Len poot in 1/4 of day it rained most of the day so we could not work

 

FR 22   Stormy most of the day   I done but little except chores and churned for TEAR and went to the fourt after Bull for Lorrey at 3.   2 of the Goff boys came here this evening to trade me a saddle and wanted to trade me a mair and cold but we never made any trade at all done the chores

 

 

SA 23   Fine day I went down in hollow and dug 3 bu of potatoes it was to wet to dig so I went to Am Fork took the 3 bu of potatoes at 35 and 7 lbs of butter at 20, sold to Bates Bot shirting 72, factery 54, flanel 40, shugar 25 shoe black paid Mrs Scot 40, hood 40, yarn 20, candy extract 25, went to Coop to see how my account stood with them.  I owed $25.75

 

SU 24   Fine clear mild   I done chores and we all went to the fourt I went to meating took VICTORIA with me.  Holladay was the speaker as a mysionary spoke of how the saciment (sacrament) should be administered and how we varied for the patron layed down by the Lord and dwelt along time on it showing the necissity of carring it out to the letter.   Bishop spoke after him and did not agree with him We had dinner at Mothers stayed til 4 then came up.  This was the first time that THEADORTHA has been to the fourt since RUFUS was born.  Jos Beck came up to night and made a bargin for my apples at 70 cts per bu  James Nealson s had a boy born yesterday and TF Carlisle had 1 born after noon

WE 27  Fine and clear I dug potatoes most of the day 7 bu went to fourt to see E Nash about buying my cow that is in town but the son he could not pay more than 20.00 for a cow so I told him I didnt want to sell.   Borrowed Strongs potato fork for to dig my potatoes with, came up at 2 Jos Beck bot 5 bu of apples of me today for 75 cts per bu he took them with him he bot all of mine at the same price he his to take them as he needs them he is not to be more than 2 weeks, befour he takes all of them as I don’t want to suffer any loss in them   Len Goodridge worked for me today plowing I dug 7 bu

 

TH 28   Fine and clear I dug potatoes all day Len plowed on the old peace running east and west in the hollow.  Dav Davis came up at 4 to see if he could borrow my buggie to go to Jordan to Mantles

I told him that 1 wheel was broke but he could have it if he wished to risk it but he never came back after it.

 

FR 29   Fine and clear Len and me went to the fourt loaded 53 bu of apples with Syl and Mrs Ricky helping us for W Nash.  I took them to Goffs at Fork he is to give me 2 3/4 galens per bu for 1.00 bu I gave Worthy 1 3/4 galens.  I came up by Jeffs but the boys not at home went to trade saddle never done it

Fetched 42 gal of cider home with me from my own apples, there is dew me yet 3 ˝ gal.  Pride had calve at 7 today

 

SA 30   Fine day clear I done chores went to Phills and skinned old Lindy and drug hur off she got foundered there yesterday at 2 o’clock I took 4 ˝ bu of potatoes and 13 lbs of butter to Fork and Lineys skin sold to Bates got 20 cts for butter and 25 for potatoes the skin I left for him to sell Bot shugar 25, tea 20, got 1.50 cash and 1 dollar on Coop and rest in Bates script got home at dark, Thompson died

 

SU 31   Fine and clear I stayed at home all day and tended cows John came up and helped me to unload 2 barrells of cider he stayed here til 2 I went with him down to the field to look for Tops she had got the distemper very bad came up done the chores.   Len went home this morning hand got broke

MO 1   Stormy it snowed and blowed I poot Len to plowing I went to fourt to see W Nash about loading up some apples and Bot at store soap 25, blewing 10 paid cash wated up and got redy went down again and took Len to load up but Worthy thought it cold and would no help so I fetched a calve up from Becks that Jos fetched from town last night for me on from that cow of mine

 

TU 2    Cold but no storme I killed a pig and hooked up took it and 4 lbs of butter to Am Fork and 5 bu of potatoes to Bates and took 6 bu of wheat to the mill got 20 cts for the butter and 35 for the potatoes and 5 ˝ for the pig it weighed 80 lbs   Bot OSKER pair of boots 2.00 and hat for him 55, flanel 1.75, yard 25, hood for VICTORIA 75, Lye 25 we returned home at 6

 

WE 3    Fine and clear I dug potatoes all day dug 16 bu and poot them in the pit Len plowed most of the day

 

TH 4    Fine and clear We fixed up went to fast meating and had John Rufus blessed and named.  We called him John Rufus he as blessed my TJ Mc and David Adams, WJ Strong and myself, David Adams bing mouth, there was Reno Vances baby and Lewises blessed also.  I and Len Goodridge went to the fourt at 3 and loaded 50 bu of apples for W Nash for cider our John and W Nash helped us got home at dusk, donme chores

 

FR 5     Fine and clear I took the load of apples to Fork for W Nash that I loaded last night took them to Goffs for 1 galen per bu rec 47 gal and sold it to Bates for 9.00 dollars on store got fleese flannel 15 yds at 25 per yard Boots for RENZO 2.10 hot for RENZO 85 coffee 25, received 2.40 for old Lineys hide of him   I paid him 80 in script on above articles.   I also sold him the barrell for 1.50 on store

 

 

SA 6     Fine but cool I and Len went to fourt at 8 loaded a load of apples for W Nash I took them to

Goffs got 3 qts on the bu of cider waited til dusk for the cider fetched up 190 galends for him 4 Bates got home at 9 up here Supper I Bot at Bates flanel 75 3 yds, sacks 25, laces

 

SU 7     Fine day clear I went to the fourt after bull, paid Nett 2.50 on Bates this finished paying hur for staying here she stayed here 3 weeks for 5.50.  I went on the north field and got the bull fetched him up for Bute but it was to late.  I went in the east field to see Tops and cold this after noon, Tops is getting some better of distemper.  Cherry took our bull

 

MO 8   I went to W Nashes helped him to poot barrells in the cell and helped E Nash to cut 5 hogs and 3 of our boys came up at 3 to cut my pigs but they were not there

 

TU 9    Fine til noon but terrible stormy after   I dug 4 bu of potatoes and took them to Fork took a barrell to poot the balance of my cider in 32 galends, sold potatoes to Bates got cider but it stormed terrible all afternoon snowed and wind

 

WE 10  Snowed all day and cold and same last night I done the chores and emptied a barrell of cider into the 2 other and fixed another in cow she.  It stormed all day til 4 cold I stayed at home all day no one come here today   I took 4 bu of potatoes and 6 lbs of butter to Bates store got 35 for potatoes and 20 for butter   Bot shugar 25, flanel 1.25, got 85 cts of Dunkleys script and 25 ct cash..... This is for yesterday the last for lines

 

TH 11   Fine day after 11 o’clock I done the chores and killed a pig that will weight 100 lbs   John came up as I was very nearly done helped me to hang it up and gut it, I done the chores after

 

FR 12   Cold but no storme I chored til 11 then went to the fourt and paid my taxes 5.50 County and Territorial and 1.25 District School tax, paid it to John Devey he was in the Tithing corell bailing hay for F Clark paid his also.  Went to the store bot 4 lbs of spikes paid 25 cash came up and Jim helped me to fetch the bull RENZOS yearling up let him have 1 gal of cider

 

SA 13   Fine but foggy I wnt to Am Fork took 7 lbs of butter to Dunkleys got 25 ct per lb   Bot muslin, C flanel 25, calico 25, stocking 25, thread 10, pins 5, buttons 10, axle grease25, paid script for rest

            Bot of Bates shambry 40, fish 10, got home at 5 done chores

 

SU 14   Clowdy but mild foggy   I went to meating 3 times there were home mysionaries John E Booth and l of the Cluff boys there were also Benney Cluff and Geo Brimhalll and others in behalf of the Young Mens Mutual they held 2 meating and gave very good instructions to all seventies at eve

 

MO 15  Snowing and blowing all day   I done the chores and killed the old black sow I had to do it alone it stormed so hard at fourt that John could not come to help me it never let up from morn til night, snowing and blowing.  Mrs Greenwood was burreyed today only 4 or 5 went to the graveyard it was so very cold they could not stand it

 

TU 16   Very cold but no storme   I took the pig to Bates that I killed yesterday it weighted 145 lbs got 5 ˝ per lb ˝ cash and ˝ on store, she came to 8.00   Bot l pair of buff boots 2.50 and pac tea 25, yarn 20, overhalls 80, went to Coop   Bot 200 lbs of coal paid 75 cts for it cash.  Lorrey took the bull

WE 17  Fine but cold til noon   I chored and fixed up the shed for to tie the cows up in and changed the horses stable and poot cows in old stable cleaned the stable out and chored

 

TH 18   Snowed all day but calm I worked at fixing up the spring for the milk and making a milk cupboard done the chores It snowed all day so I could not work out doors

 

FR 19   Fine and clear.  I done the chores and got redy went to Am Fork took 10 lbs of butter to Bates at 20 ct and took 105 lbs of wheat to the mill got it ground into Gramam Bot of Bates 2 suits of clothes for RENZO and OSKER and over coat for 11.00 and I can of coal oil 2.00 groceries 50 Paid on the above 1.50 in butter I had to go to Lehi Coop after the clothes our Jim went to Lehi and Fork with me took Chuck and Trip I took LORENZO with me to fit the clothes on

 

SA 20   Cold started to snow at 2 snowed to night   I went over in the field and found my Black stear and red one is the one that Cris got of W Heamans took old Chuck home and stayed to the fourt til 4 trying to get up a bull fight our and Rileys would not fight

 

SU 21   Snowed most of the day very hard   I went to meating Bro Loveridge was there from Provo and spoke a short while on tithing and lacing and eating stark then came to my case and explained about the conflab that him and me had some time ago told whare the mistake was between him and myself then said there was a chance for me to say what has to say I done so and corrected some few things that he had stated that was rong (wrong) and asked forgiveness of all those that had aught against me, Adams got up after the vote was taken and said he had not raised his hand to forgive me and went on to a considerable length with slander.  I told him that I objected to what he was saying but it done no good but he kept on with his abuse.  I came to dinner it was snowing very hard and blowing and it continued so all the rest of the day I stayed at home the rest of the day done chores, I ft of snow on level

TU 23   Stormy most of the day.  I done the chores went to the fourt took 65 lbs of oats to the store at 1 1/4 ct per lb Bot soap 25, rice 20, nutmeg 10, rivits 10, soda 12 ˝ went to Mothers got our big bucket seen Strong he asked me how I felt about Sunday afair I told him I considered where it came fom said he would not have sted (stood) it as well as I did but he borrowed Jims gun and their tub and board got auger

TH 25   Fine day mild   I chored til noon wnt to the fourt took Fanneys Tub and board home   LORENZO went with me Jim and John.  Was killing Jims pig had it done except opening it, we stayed their to dinner came up at 2 Hyram Heley and James Nealson was up this afternoon teaching, I told them I wanted them to see Adams for me and tell im that I wanted him to make a


Fair wright of last Sunday.  I gave Hyram 25 cts cash on tabernacle donation, Bute and Lorey took white bull today again I am not shure about Lorey

 

FR 26   Fine day I done the chores got redy went to Am Fork took 200 lbs of oats and 14 lbs of butter at 25 cts oats 1.40 Bot shirting 55, demins 50, milk pans 90, shugar 25, ginger 10, yarn 20 Bot of Chipman a coat for VICTORIA 5.00 if I keep it never paid anything down Bot at Coop 1350 lbs of coal paid 3.90 cash for it got home at dark left on act 3.85 cts Bates

 

SA 27   Fine and Warme   I done the chores went up above the yellow mine and killed a wild cat and fetched it down and skined it and stuffed its skin partly unloaded my coal made a bin for it in granery P Kits was over helping me kill the cat he stayed til noon had cider

 

SU 28   Fine day mild We all went to meating Bro Surrenson (Soresson) spoke and A Marsh red a sermon form Wilford Woodruff and Matilda Mc Daniel was administered to for hur health this was the program of the meating we went to E Heleys to dinner stayed to fourt til after school.  The boys wore their new clothes today for the first time

 

MO 29 Fine clear and warme I done chores Dug the snow out of apple pit Joseph Beck and Mother came up this morn after my apple I had sold them to Bates I loaded them up 120 bu John came up stayed til 5 it took most of afternoon to load the apples

 

TU 30   Fine day clear I took 12 ˝ bu of apples and 7 lbs of butter to Bates at Am Fork got 95 ct for apples and 25 for butter it amounted to 13.50 Bot of him shirting 50, gingham 25, cups and saucers 90, onions 45, oil can 10, pensils 5, marbles 5 got home at dusk got the chores done by 5

WE 1    Fine and summery I chored and partly make a stable for the horses put boards and slabs up on east side of shed for 14 ft or so   done the chores no one came here today

 

TH 2    Fine day I went to fourt to see if Chris Beck had fetched some sheep from the hurd for me he had not come home Bot at the store nails, thread 10, buttons 10, paid cash for the above helped W Nash to poot 2 barrels of cider in the cellar and went to Mothers got the papers had dinner   John and Jim came up with me to get the grey pigs they only tool 1 left 2 helped me to shoe Bell on the frount feet and cut 3 of my pigs

 

FR 3     Find day mild I worked on the road all day halling gravel from end of grave yard hill to in frond of W Browns   Worked my teeme E Heley and L J Vance worked their teemes also Our Jim and Lee Clark and W Browns worked single handed started from here at 8 ˝ got home at 5

 

SA 4     Fine and clear I took up 2 sacks of oats and 1 of wheat and went to Am Fork left the wheat at the mill took the oats to Chipmans 200 lbs to pay on VICTORIAS coat oats at 17 ct per took the butter to Bates at 22 ˝ per lb Bot tea 25, onions 15, carrots 10, 3 yards of dress goods at 30 got $6.50 in script and 2 cash of him on apples and on back acct settled in full Bot of Chipmans suspenders 20 ct for RENZO lime 15, Bot of Dunkleys 42 ft of skantlin 2 by 4 for 95 cts cash

 

SU 5     Fine day a few clowds scattered   We all went to meating there was 2 mysionaries from Santiquin Nelson and a boy had a very good meating, went to Rileys to dinner stayed til 4 come up

TU 7    Fine day clear     I chored and lumbered and slabbed 10 ft on east side of the double shed went to the fourt at 2 Bot 3 sheep of E Heley 2 lambs I old yew paid hime 2.50 on Devy and 1 dollar cash and 50 cts script on Bates for 3   Bot 155 lbs of beefe of Rileys paid him 6 cts per lb for it came to 9.30 on stock tithing

 

WE 8    Fine day clear and thawing   I cut up beef hung it up in granery and went to fourt after a buck and the lamb   I got of Idah Heley but never got the buck took 297 lbs of oats for tithing and had Topsy weighed she weighed 960 lbs   Jeff Vance 2 ˝ year mail went 1130 went to stray pen seeen the horses that were to be sold in 8 days   4 of W Nashes came up at 4 done chores by dark

TH 9    Fine day thawing   I done the chores went to the fourt and Bot at store Box lye 15, lamp wicking 15, paper 4, lin seed oil 15, and sweeet nighter 10 Went to see if I could make a trade with Worthy for a cow we never traded come up at 2 Got Jed Spradily to help me to drench and clean little Nell out she was sick and stopped up so she could not pass anything atall we worked with hur 1 hour or so and eased hur some

 

FR 10   It rained some last night and turned to snow this morning at 4 snowed 1 inch Nell was not any better so I sent for John and W Brown to come up and help to do some thing with hur they came at 10 stayed all day and worked hur all day to relieve hur but it took til dark and then we never got any pakage thorugh hur he went home after supper I payed Scot 1.00 on Bates to night which finished paying him all I owe him this 1.00 was for helping me to thresh Our Jim came up at 1 stayed til night helped us to hold the colt

 

SA 11   Cold til 12 mild after froze last night I done the chores sent RENZO to the fourt to tell Brown how the colt was and to come up him and Jim   Came up at 15 minutes to 12 styed til 1 ˝ had dinner and went back and poot in ˝ day on road and came up again at 6 to night We cleaned the mair out again but there has not been any passage through hur yet we left hur in good shape at 9 he done about 1 hours work We have used about 1 ˝ pts of his oil that cost 1.50 a galen

 

SU 12   Fine day clear   I done chores W Brown came up at 10 ˝ stayed til noon and cleaned out the mair out again but never got andy passage through hur yet but she passed water for the first time he had dinner here went at 1 I stayed home all day no one else came up

 

MO 13  Fine and clear I done the chores W Brown came up to tend to Nell at noon he stayed til 4 chatting it took him ˝ hour to attempt to the mair I only chatted with him and cleaned the stable out and done the chores

 

TU 14   Fine day I went to Fork took 18 lbs of butter to Dunkleys at 20 ct got shirting hood 25, apron 80, shugar 50, rice 25, Cats Colon Soaps bpx drugs 1.50 for colt, shoes 2.60 paid 1.25 I owe 1.35 on them.  Took 6 bu of wheat to mill

 

WE 15  Fine day clear I done the chores went to the fourt took 70 lbs of oats to store Bot tea 25, nails 30, yarn 45 paid for it all with the oats   Seen Mrs Scot about washing for us tomorrow went to Mothers stayed there 1 hour or so had dinner there OSK went with me come up at 2 Rob Jones came up to trade me his buggie for stock but we never traded I offered him the yellow stear for it

 

he offered the buggie and 7 ˝ for Lorey I told him he could have hur for 10.00 and the buggie never traded

 

TH 16   Fine day but cold I went to the fourt after Martha Loverige to wash I chored all day took hur home at night and tended tot he sick colt Made a manger for the horses

 

FR 17   Fine day warm Finished pooting in mangers in new stable and done chores Stayed at home all day no one came up

SU  19  Fine day clear We all went to meating Bro Swenson and Clark took most of the time Bishop spoke a short time, David Adams ask my forgiveness for insulting me 3 or 4 weeks ago in meating and ask the ward to forgive him also he was forgiven by everyone We had dinner at Becks I gave H Moyle 25 cts in cash to send to a Vance

TU 21   Fine day the snow is nearly gone I cut the 2 pigs up and weighed them I weighed 264 other 157 Took ˝ of the little one for tithing 71 lbs let Wrown have 32 of the same one took 10 lbs of butter for tithing and 400 of wheat went to James Vances and paid him 2 dollars on my water tax went to Tom Whitbys got 42 lbs salt at 10 per lb never paid him I gae him 40 cts for salt befour and 55 for beefe in all 1.20 Came up done the chores

FR 24   Stormed some after 3 John came up this morn fetched the bull for Lorey took him then John came up at 4 after the bull again and asked us to come down there to dinner tomorrow but we was asked to Becks tomorrow he said E Price had come and there was going to be a dance to night for all

 

SA 25   Clowdy started to snow a little We went to fout to Becks to dinner stayed there for the night  Lewises was there to dinner and stayed there to dinner and supper   I wnt to Mothers after dinner and stayed galsing with Ezekiel and others and eating til 4 then came up and done chores and Zekiel and Will came up we stayed here til 8 went to Becks and galsed ate til 12

 

SU 26   It snowed some til noon We stayed at Becks last night come up this morning E Price and our John came up with me to fead and milk and chore We come up at 10 stayed her til l went down fetched TEAR and Children up at 5 chored

 

MO 27  Fine but some clowds   I went to fourt to see how the pigs sold that was in the stray pen they went to high for me 1st sold for 1.80 the other for 2.80 T Clark bot the 2 helped W Nash to cut 12 bulls and to ring 2 Eph and Worthys   Ezekil started for home at 1 I bargined for 3 turkeys of them for 3.75 I male and 2 females

 

TU 28   Fine day I went to the fourt to see if Emeline wanted to come up here today but she was washing and could not come said she would come tomorrow instead   We, RENZO and me went to Lewises as we went to the fourt our Jim and W Price Jr and James Burnaham was coming up here I met them at the corner of George Mc Daniels land they went to Lewises with me   I came up at 5 ˝ done chores by dusk Jim Burnaham was to the fourt he came up with me to stay a night or 2 with me

 

WE 29  Fine day I washed 3 bu of potatoes for to take for tithing Jim Burnham helped me to do it   Nett and Emeline came up today horse back stayed all day til 4   Went home when it was raining hard Jos Beck was also stayed til the girls went home   I went to the fourt at 1 to see if S Moyle about changing water rights but he never came up   I stayed til 4 came home Jim Burnham had the chores all done except milking Cherry took the white bull Paid Strong 50 ct on the stove

 

TH 30   It stormed some off and on til 9 I chored and took some straw off the shed by the chicken coop and poot it on the cow shed and packed some of the east and west shed and poot it on cow shed.  Jim Burnham helped me to do it Him and me made a trade I traded him Topsy for 60 head of sheep the sheep is to be young ones and good stock no old ones atall We got redy and went to the concert at dusk We had a very good time we slept at Mothers

 

FR 31   Fine day We come home after breakfast and done chores I took 3 bu of potatoes for tithing and 2 lbs of butter the butter to aply on Egg tithing and settled tithing The Bishop nocked off part of my stock tithing on a count of me having such bad luck this last year with my stock there is yet to my cr 1.60 on stock tithing list I have paid 39 hundred lbs of hay and 20 lbs of butter 2 doz eggs, 4 hundred lbs wheat and 300 lbs of oats 71 lbs of poark, 6 bu of apples, 3 bu of potatoes only raised very little corn fed it all to the pigs long ago never paid anything on it and never got a chance to do any halling tithing on acct of the road
